From Gettysburg Battle Field this evening. They got 4" of the white stuff yesterday, most of which had melted by this afternoon. We got nothing where we live, 60 miles from Gettysburg.
My favorite of places to shoot Douglas! Just beautiful! The selective color works so well here!
We got a dusting then the rain....all gone!
Dan
FYI, I found this new manufacturer of variable neutral density filters and products, https://kolarivision.com Had a few questions about their product line so I emailed them. The head of the company responded immediately and we had a great conversation about their current line and where they are going with it. Coincidentally they just released this drop in VND filter for Canon super telephoto lenses. Based upon what the conversation I ordered one and it arrived today. Looks like a high quality product, I'll shoot some tests with it and report back.

Thank you Dan! The forecast was so wrong this time, the accumulation was so much less than what they forecasted right up to that morning. On my way to Gettysburg, I saw nothing on the ground in Frederick, Thurmont got about 2", Gettysburg got 4" on Saturday, but by the time I got there Sunday afternoon most of it was gone.
A few more at sunset from Gettysburg on Sunday. Did you read that the National Park Service wanted to remove William Penn's statue from Philadelphia? They may as well rename Pennsylvania to Obamavania. This country has gone nuts.

Please let us know how it is, Jim! I bought an infrared camera from Kolarivision before. I already have a 2-3-5 stop ND filter but may need another one for the upcoming adventurer.

Nuts indeed Douglas! The lady who cuts my hair is from Vietnam, she is petrified because she says what the left wants for our country is exactly what the Vietnamese fled from. We're dumb, and once it gets to a certain point, there will be no turning back. Problem is, I don't trust either party to fix it in a meaningful way, the left is out of their minds and the right is a bunch of self serving wimps that are too afraid of offending someone to do what is actually needed, so here we are. We need to dig Ronald Reagan up and prop him at the door of the White House, he's do a better job than any of the drips we have in office currently.
If anyone does take a stand and hold to the rule of law, "the summer of love" peaceful demonstrations will begin all over again. I'm afraid that some really tough "love" is going to have to take place to get us anywhere near back on track. These brats aren't going to go back into their cages without some serious push back, and that is not going to be pretty.

Just beautiful Jim!
As a "HALO" jumper I loved jumping about the cloud cover and hearing the whistle of wind in my chutes cords and feeling the humidity on my face. A surreal experience to say the least.
Say "Heh" to my buddy!

DFW ATC has their hands full today, an American flight just reported in #40 in line for RWY 31L, one of the only two runways in use. The crosswind component for all the other runways is way over the acceptable limit.

Yes I did Douglas! They, activists, are trying to get Arlington Natl Cemetery to remove all monuments and statues memorializing the Confederancy!
I have strongly voice my objections to the sanization of the US history regarding the Civil War.
I wrote 2 photo articles on the origins of ANC and how the cemetery came to be.
My "ARMY" Magazine cover photo won a national award! on the Cemetery's 150th Anniversary.
And just a note..the 1st soldier to be interred there has the exact same name of a life long friend who was KIA in Vietnam and buried near the ampitheater.

The publisher did not do justice to the submitted photo. The tones were far more complimentary in my image submission but I had no control over the cover shot!
The 1st image was just about correct. I wanted to emphasize the shadows and the hill.
Thanks again!
Dan

I read that the sailor (an immigrant from China) was handed just 28 months prison term for selling naval secrets to China? How about a death sentence?! Same deal with people who just go to stores to take stuff. There is no accountability anymore. No wonder this happens over and over again. I hate to say that but sometimes I think the CCP is better in dealing with crime.

Congratulations Dan! I hope the big snow forecast for next Tuesday will pan out so I can photograph the cemetery in snow before the Christmas wreaths are removed (on Jan 17??).

Here ya go Douglas! Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery (SAHNC) in Washington, D.C. will hold its annual removal of wreaths, known as Wreaths Out, on Saturday, Jan. 20 beginning at 8 a.m.
There will be no vehicular access permitted on cemetery grounds until 3 p.m. The Welcome Center Parking Garage will open to the public at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.

I hope all that dust is on the filter and background cloth, not your lens, or sensor.
