Yes, I did shoot from a very tall ladder, just didn't post the shot. I always try to get up higher when possible. It does
make for a better view, absolutely.
Man lift would have been great, they just didn't have one available that day.
The Temple Air Show is today. 80% chance of rain with it tapering to 60% this afternoon. The city of Temple took over the Air Show from the previous team who were mostly from Georgetown. The Georgetown crew did a great job with all the struggles from bad weather and then COVID. I guess the city thinks they can do a better job. The Georgetown crew put on a Friday night air show, then Saturday and Sunday events. They had really grown the show with vendors and activities. After two years, Temple is offering an afternoon airshow with with 12 acts. It seems most of the static displays will be from Fort Cavazos (formerly known as Fort Hood).
I was scheduled to shoot a baseball playoff game this afternoon but the paper decided not to send us an hour away for a game that might get scrubbed.

A few years ago I had the privilege of doing portraits of a couple of Tuskegee Airmen, both have flown West...............
WE have one of the last of the "Red Tails" a few miles down the road from me, American hero, Tuskegee Airman Brig. Gen. Charles McGee dies at 102.
Great video on line from WBAL-TV https://www.wbaltv.com/ charles-mcgee-died(Google it-link is broken)
I had the pleasure of meeting this fine gentleman and fantastic pilot at a "Welcome Home" ceremony for Vietnam Vets some 10 years ago. He is the epotomy of kindness yet stoic in his resolve that the "Red Tails" could whip any German pilot's butt in any air fight!
They rain towards the fire!
Mooney's are a bit challenging for reasonably tall folks, but they are very efficient. Mooney was the first GA manufacturer to achieve 1 knot of airspeed for each horsepower. One reason for that efficiency was keeping the fuselage profile down. That long back window gives the back seat passengers a nice view of the sky drifting by, too bad it's a low wing, can't see anything below you.
Well, was planning to go down to the Temple air show but between the rain and my change last nigh not going quite according to plan, I ended up at DFW <sigh>.

White aircraft with a white/light background. Sometimes the background choices are unflattering (to say the least).
Don't know if this would have been possible, but did you consider shooting the aircraft from the top of a vehicle, a bucket lift, a borrowed ladder, or a building/hanger roof? Elevating yourself (and the camera) would have you shooting the aircraft from a higher vantage point. This (with adequate elevation) would in effect "raise" the background greenery in relation to the aircraft and would help "define" the aircraft in the image, and make it "pop" more than the cloudy sky you were forced to deal with.

I also notice some white clouding in three different places. Front tire, rear tire and by the wing.

Bill, thank you for pointing this out. I'll be very honest with you, I did not see the clouding, until you mentioned it. It is there, plain as day. I don't know why I didn't see it before I posted the shot.....I need to fix that, no doubt. It was sprinkling there when I photographed the jet, intermittently, and I think that is what caused that.
Jay the humidity is getting geared up all over now. We had a low temp, day yesterday but the humidity made it "close".
Nice shooting. I envy all you "jocks"(I say that with the utmost respect)! I think that "rising above all the ground level turmoil", but even for a moment, would relax me very much.
