Good points, Alan. They can get more through cyber attacks and the spies in our universities and technology companies. But I have zero doubt the CCP will have no hesitation to shoot down an American balloon if one gets to their air space.

I think it should have been shot down but I don't know the real info. Maybe recovering it by shooting it over shallow water was the right thing. I do know my father, who was on Omaha Beach on D-Day would be heart broken to see the divide in our country today.

I will add a quote from a speech many years ago that nailed the CCP to the wall!

There is much more said but this is the "jist" of our politicians and some military reasoning( I am VERY sorry to say that) in dealing with the CCP.
Above has NO bearing on the people of China! They are fine people in a bad situation.
