Sorry, but I can't stop posting the F-18 Super Hornet's pictures from Friday's rehearsal, it may have something to do with "Top Gun Maverick". Too bad I had never seen an F-14 flying in person.
This will be my last post of plane pictures until the next show in Atlantic City in Aug, unless I am crazy enough to go to Battle Creek, MI for that show...

It is great how technology is continuing to make leaps at such a rapid pace. I know Canon has had retina focus before, but if it was so great they would have built on that, so it must not have been up to industry standards. I don't know what camera to compare the R6 to, but at the price range it would be my 5D III. I have been very happy with the R6, and several times I have second guessed not getting the R5. Hopefully I will take care of that with an R5c...saving my pennies by not driving. Just think, at the rate this country is going, by reducing my driving a tank full per month would pay for a 12 month interest free loan for an R6🤪!
At any rate, I am amazed at the improvement from just a few years ago when I thought the original 5D was the cat's meow. ...Show more →
I agree Ray! I know that we have discussed this before but just to make sure, unless you are thinking about getting serious with video, 8K video, I wouldn't spring for an R5C. I've been using mine quite a bit just to get used to it, and I think it's a great camera, but the fan , nice as it is to have for trouble free video, makes it a bit clunkier than the R5. Before you make that jump, I'll come down and we'll play with both of them for a day so you have a feel for which one serves you better. I'd enjoy having breakfast/lunch and dinner with you anyway!
BTW the shot of Tim and Cindy was R5c/RF70-200/2.8, an unbeatable combination.
My grandson is going into the high school band this year playing the tuba (Sousaphone). Still photos just don't do justice to marching band. Plus we will have two granddaughters performing at the same half time.
19 and 20-year-olds getting married. Amazing to think of these days.
Dawn and I were 20 and 21 when we got married. And your sentiments about our wives being sent from God echo loudly with me...I don't know if I would be here today if not for her "careful guidance" over the years.
Will will be married 35 years this September.
Amazing us youngsters made it!
Certainly blessed!

Zane, if you think it is great now, wait until retirement. We are having more fun now in retirement as a couple than we did when we were dating before we were married! It only gets better!

Zane, congrats on your upcoming anniversary! I was thinking about the age thing too. I would not have been happy if either of our kids announced they were getting married that young. Of course now they are 30 and 26, and Dan (the oldest) isn't even dating right now.
Sometimes when you have to dig deep, the extra effort is rewarded. Between my client the pool designer and his landscape genius, some of these spaces are incredible...............
Thank you very much guys for your compliments about the pictures I posted.
Talking about wedding, my wife and I didn't have a wedding. Soon after the Tiananman Square Massacre in China on June 4, 1989, a very generous American couple whom I met in China when I was their tour-guide urged me to leave China. I was admitted to the Ohio State University, and with some "help", I was granted a student visa by the U.S. consulate in Guangzhou. I bought my one way plane ticket to the U.S. to get out of there ASAP. One week before my departure, my then girl friend and I went to the local government to get our marriage certificate, so legally we were married, but we didn't have time for a wedding or anything. We were 26 at that time.
I was in Austin on Friday and it was "Congo Hot" to say the least. I was there to photograph a Gulfstream G-550 for my client, and while the FBO guys were turning the jet around during the exterior shots, this TWA Retro American Airlines B-737 was departing.
I frequent my local County Airport, never know what I might see and it is relaxing for me. This eve I thought we might have some storms, lightning and a building cloud column to offer some background drama. Well it just kept getting more pretty and more peaceful, no action so I took advantage of this jet sitting alone. Some busy clutter off in the background, construction going on sorry
I always enjoy the images in this thread, they are amazing as are the subjects!

What a beautiful shot, Karl! As I mentioned some posts back, there will be a great airshow in Battle Creek, Michigan at the end of the month. I really want to go but it's a 1200 mile drove (round trip) for me.

Michigan is a beautiful State Douglas. Your talent in the sky is amazing, you owe it to yourself to go! Looks like its about 215 miles for me In Ohio you should stop at the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton and have your meal at the attached Tin Goose Diner. Tin Goose as in the Ford Tri Motor that served the area Islands.
Thanks for the kind words on the 'static' shot.

Thank you, Karl. Believe it or not, my very first airshow was at Dayton, Ohio when I was a student at OSU, probably in 1990 or 1991. My impression was every pilot looked like Tom Cruise, with their Ray Ban glasses on.
Going through the files from the rehearsal last Friday, I saw this shot with their own photog in the back seat of the F-16 that was trailing the formation. I wish I had his job.
