Spent most of the day with Joe, getting him rolling with the Adobe Suite and his R5 . So fun to share knowledge with someone so passionate about our craft. When the winds dial back below 25, we are going up to get him some air to air shots of him flying his beautiful Husky. You’ll see them here first!
Just got a preliminary update on AFW 2022, There will be some good opportunities, but they’ll be brief and on Friday/Sat. Nothing Sunday. A shadow of its former self, but business is business and we have been lucky to have it this long. Chandler and I will be there to capture the “Swan Song”.
This is the finale for the Temple spring football training. They divide everyone up into two teams, Blue and White. The seniors take it easy, the juniors and sophomores are playing for a spot on varsity.
We are completing a new FBO at McKinney and the city has asked me to meet with them to plan a gallery of my work in the main lobby. The airport manager has a six foot print of "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" that greets him every morning when he comes to work, he'd like to expand on that in the new building, should be fun!

Looking at the 90D still, want the 8 processor and pixels, so...
90D or a 1D Mark IV, both used in the $1000.00 range.
90D is like new and 1D is well used.
Any suggestions ?
Bill I have the 90D and it is a great camera! I use the APS-C sensor for my macro shooting. I also had the MK4..also a great body. LOVE the 1D series robust-ness!
If I can help in your decision. I will!
Being that the MK4 is well used, the 90D an upgraded body and newer, I might suggest that.

Bill,
I have a good friend that shoots a lot of indy car and for a news paper in northern Indiana. He has had them both, the 1D Mk IV and is currently shooting the 90D. He is very pleased with the 90D and doing great work with it. I would echo Danpb's comments, the 90D being newer and such might be just what the doctor ordered.
Kinda what I was thinking to guys, thanks for the inputs.
I gotta do something soon as I have an invitation to an Air Force base and possibly a tanker ride again so I need a new camera. Now if I could hurry up and sell my gold detector ( or find some gold with it ) and get me a nice 300 2.8L IS I'd be set.

Bill, according to Canon Rumor, there will be this:
Canon EOS R10
24.2mp
15-23fps (Mechanical/Electronic)
1x UHS-II (supported)
HDR PQ
While the DSLRs still take great pictures, if I were buying a new camera, I would take a serious look at mirrors. That's the direction now.

Do you mean, mirrorless ?
I have been looking at those too. My budget is low so I'm looking at used right now, mainly on B&H.

Sorry, I meant mirrorless. If you want DSLR, its a great time to buy used now since many folks are moving to mirrorless. The DSLRs still take great pictures!
Ya, true.
Not sure what way to go now.
I have been looking at the EOS M6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera as well on the used market but I'd have to change my lens setup.

What does that mean Jim is the show coming to an end?
The email I received from the organizing team stated that the Thunderbirds and the F-22 Demo Team are coming in on Thursday and that they will be the only performers. Additionally, there would be performances on Friday and Saturday, nothing on Sunday. They also mentioned a modified static ramp display area that everyone will have access to for a period of time, but will have to be empty during the team's performances.
No one has filled in the blanks, but it sounds like they had those teams booked and they didn't want to cancel their appearances so they are putting on a very, very abbreviated "show". They vaguely said that it may or may not be the last one, but realistically, it's not worth the time and the effort for anyone involved. I think the handwriting has been on the wall for several years as The Fort Worth Alliance Airport expands it's commercial operations and fulfills it's purpose. Really, I am amazed that we were able to put it on for this long.
Chandler and I will be there, like we have been for every show, and I'm sure this one will present some unique opportunities. Anyone who walks the halls of the FBO at AFW can see that this has been a long and very successful run. I'm glad we outlasted it, and not vice versa........... It's been a privilege to be a part of a very unique and distinguished team!
I can't say that Rob, because I am part of the team, but I can see where people might think that. I don't anticipate fighting big crowds for sure. What I do anticipate is an absolute drubbing in social media. We have a fair share of whiners no matter what the format is, but this is going to bring them out in droves. I always wonder why people take time to complain instead of just doing something else with their day.........social media.........sheesh!
You and I will have to figure out another reason to get together!

Ahh that's to bad if so, I'm fortunate to have been there a couple of time's with you and some of the gang.
So like we say we always have the photo's...
I consider most of you here, really just a couple of exceptions, to be very good friends. Mike Brewington said it the other day, "I feel like we've been friends for most of our lives, and we've never laid eyes on each other". If this forum vanished, I would miss you all more than I can express. When you think of it, we've experienced a lot of highs and lows since we banded together here, we've laughed, cried, prayed, lived life together. Heck, I've been blessed to launch off in a couple of B25's with a handful of you, some of my fondest memories involve looking back over my shoulder to see you grinning and shooting. We've spent time on the flight lines of a number of air shows shooting, sharing, just enjoying each other's company. The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show has been a venue that contributed greatly to those memories and I'll always be grateful for that. I've watched the sun go down over the Blues and their Hornets with many of you, been IFR in the smoke of the Thunderbirds, close to roasted in the jet wash of The Shock Wave, man, it's been a blast! I cherish you all. Just felt like telling you, in case you didn't already know it.

Well, I love to see the F-22, so I may come over. Being Navy, I’m obviously more interested in the Blues (being polite about the competition ). I presume that it will just be standing around in the field?
This is actually pretty terrible for people who like air shows. The CenTex air show hasn’t come back and Barksdale hasn’t come back yet. I was going to go down to San Antonio, but didn’t, thankfully. I heard that they were set for 100,000 people and something more like 500,000 showed up causing an enormous traffic jam. Abilene is a bit of a drive.
So what are we left with? Kaboom Town and the 4th of July thing over the lake. Sad that we have so many people in the DFW area who like air shows. Don’t know that the JRB will come up with one occasionally.
