I'm exercising extreme self discipline today as I turn down my second R3. I'd really like to have one for several reasons, none which are worth six grand......................
Just got a call from Joe Dobransky, he got his Christmas present early, we're meeting at HQ for lunch so we can get him up and running with his new gear.

I caught this Airbus A-320 a few weeks ago on a gorgeous afternoon at DFW Airport. Viva Aerobus is a low-cost carrier based in Mexico.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
Jay, I am right East of the flight path into Dulles airport and I see these monster jets lumbering SE and I just imagine them falling out of the sky from the immensity!
Then the flight path into BWI has the lesser sized jets heading East...
And then of course being 15 miles from Camp David, when whoever is there, the military jets scream all day and night!
Temps 1 day 40 today 60, then 30's then 70's...
You also have a great week!

Santa must be running early this year. I have a Z6 to play with.
Very small, almost too light (fixed that by adding the two battery grip). Interesting... Not sure I'm ready for mirrorless; I keep poking myself in the eye reaching for where the back focus button should be .I think it's a great walking around camera but not quite ready to dump the big DSLRs...
Could be. I'm struggling a bit with the fact that the Z6 doesn't have any cross focus points; they're all horizontal points. It focuses fast on the lens I've been using to test with (85mm f1.4G) and the in-body VR is certainly nice. I guess I'll run down to the airport and see how it tracks over the weekend.
Had some time to work through a lot of the photos I took a few weeks back when my friend came up from Austin and spent the afternoon with me at DFW Airport.
Since it is AA's largest hub, I personally, get rather tired of the AA jets coming in ALL the time.
We did get one little Lear Jet as well, which seems so odd coming into such a large airport and to follow it up with an Emirates B-777-200LR.
Friday is just around the corner and I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Hope everyone is doing well! Some very cool big bird and little bird pictures posted above. Here are mine from this week. The eagle activities at Conowingo Dam have been usually slow this time of the year. The Mandarin duck has become a celebrity in mid Atlantic region, it's so rare.
My goodness Douglas, those are some incredible images you posted. My favorites are 1, 3, 4 and 5. Just amazing work, some of these should be in textbooks, calendars and posters. Fantastic set of photos! Thanks for sharing.

Merry Christmas everyone!

That Mandarin Duck is one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen Douglas!!!!
Conowingo can get slow if the temps get too mild. But these are tremendous!
Happy Holidays to you and family!

As the year is wrapping up, I went through the airshow pictures I took this year and wanted to share with you my favorites. I went to 4 shows and 2 rehearsals this year, a few less than usual because of COVID cancellations. I am sure they were already posted soon after each show but here is the compilation of the 10 I like the most. I had never shot airshows at 840mm focal length before this year. It was fun in some situations. I love both the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels, but I must admit, I have a soft spot for the Blue Angels. It was great to see the Thunderbirds start to fly tighter formations this year.
Would be fun to see what your favorites are for this year!

shutter speed too fast for the prop. motion but I wanted that moment!
