Canon has so many new products in the pipeline for 2022 it's unbelievable. As much as I am looking forward to the R1, between the R5 and the R3, the pressure is off, I'll just shoot away with those until the R1 rolls off the assembly line.
James III got his first taste of an air show this weekend at “Wings Over Dallas”. Airplanes, noise and wide open spaces, it was just his cup of tea. I spent the day yesterday helping my Buddy Kevin Hong shoot the show. Two 256gb cf express cards, lots of stills and lots and lots of video, final got an over temp warning on the R5 , but it never shut down. I shut it off and opened the card access door for a few minutes and it never came on again. It was 80 degrees , probably would have had a problem if it was 95. Another reason to have an R3 in the wings.

Douglas has done it again! What a set, beautiful!
Douglas is the embodiment of the photographic craft, he’ll drive inordinate distances for an opportunity, and everything he creates stirs the soul of his viewer . He has my respect.
Jim, thank you, and really enjoyed your airshow pictures! I am an early riser so I could head out pretty early to for sunrise shots. Last Thursday I left my house at 2:30 AM, drove 250 miles to Harriman State Park north of New York City for sunrise and foliage. It turned out to be a cloudless sunrise so I didn't even bother to photograph the sunrise, but I got some decent shots of the foliage. 1-3 are from the trip last Thursday. The bridge is about 5 minutes from West Point. I toured West Point a couple times in the past so I didn't go this time. This morning I left my house at 4:00 to drive to Shenandoah National Park to photograph foliage in sunrise. I marvel at the magic of the Lord whenever I see those incredible sunrise and sunset. 4-7 are from this morning at Shenandoah.
Excellent shot Jim.
Other than this one, seems like the shots you have been posting lately have been a little dark, maybe just me. This one seems perfect tho-
Jim, It was good to see you at the CAF show this weekend!
They put on a pretty good warbird show.
Now...if they could just move the sun or the ramp...that would be wonderful.
I was only there on Saturday and I didn't shoot much. Spent most of my time watching and listening. I have seen everything there fly before and didn't feel like fighting the light.
It was quite enjoyable to just take it all in for a change. Haven't done that in quite a while.
Great seeing you as well Zane. Fighting the light is a great way to describe that show, unfortunately. We were thinking about going farther out on the field but there was so much pyro that we didn't think it was wise. The light winds on Saturday and the pyro/grass fires didn't help the lighting much, but it was a good show. Hope to see you again soon!
