Hi James,

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you how mesmerizing your most recent series of images have been. These are uniquely you, the composition, lighting conditions, post processing treatment and the technical excellence in the captures themselves, just outstanding my friend!

If that Spit needed full rudder travel to manage the take off, that brings up the first question. Next would be why he over rotated and dug the prop into the dirt, which really began the whole sequence, then he reversed his rudder input, as if that was going to have any effect at that point. So, over rotation, digging the prop into the dirt, the ensuing torque from the ground contact and he was along for the ride from there.

Too bad about that Spit; that was one of my favorite ones. Hopefully both pilot and plane will fly again.

And for something completely different... if any of you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I do a lot of abstract art. Here's a T-6...

A rather mundane subject, but I'm editing some P4Pro clips and stills for a client. This still was taken at the beginning of a very cool clip where I fly the drone low into the work and then climb to end with an elevated view of the machinery working. The imagery from the P4Pro still imagery is pretty impressive, given what it is, although the reduction here doesn't being to display the quality.

Dear Anwar,

Sorry I missed your post, and very sorry for your loss. This weekend has been about family, milestones, a Grandson graduating and getting ready to head off to Texas A&M in a few months. Happy milestones, but "tick, tock..." is always in the background. Your Prophet was correct, Malcom Forbes said something similar, "While alive......Live!" It's no secret that we have a 100% mortality rate on this journey, just a question of when, but we cannot let that, and all the negativity that surrounds us everyday drown out the beauty, the kindness, the love, the gifts we've been given.

Yes...

Really it is the balance of feeling immortal (falsely, which is a human nature), and the reminder of mortality. To get the balance point between living today, and preparing for death and the judgement day by doing good and leaving the best of you for man kind.
It is a reminder to break the false feelings of immortality, a reminder that each person will face the same, so it is a reminder to do good, and leave the best trail you can leave behind so people would think about you as a best person they ever knew in this life.
Someone might understand that I was deeply negative and drowned in a black sea from what I wrote yesterday. Actually I wasn't, it was a reminder that everyone will face it sooner or later. So from that point, do more good, continue living as someone who said "If you cannot find somebody to live for, live for yourself".

A big red rose for you my brother, and all my family here.

Well... that brings back some memories. I never played with anything that big, but back in the day "Looking After" Blaw-Knox PF90s was part of my "work". Looking After, included lining up a pair of PF90s with my buddy and drag racing them. They had a very fierce scroll clutch, so you could wind the donkey up, put it in 1st gear and drop said clutch. Result was both sets of front wheels in the air for about 50 feet.

But it's a shame hope the pilot gets well soon he was the former Rafale demo pilot.

Thanks Jim, that feedback means an awful lot to me. I am my own worst critic, often suffering from bouts of self doubt about my photography. It drives my wife up the wall.

I took a decision this year to try to just chill out more, learn to enjoy photography again, try new techniques and events, and see what happens.

Well James, it would appear that all you needed to do was relax a bit and believe in yourself a bit more, you got it all going on now! I've used others for inspiration, but the only person I really ever felt like I was in competition with, has been me. Do it for you and enjoy yourself, you are head and shoulders above the crowd at this point, just keep going.

Well I might as well come clean, there is no chance that I'll be making it to Riat, sorry Anwar I owe you one Bud. I can't explain exactly why at this point, but my ride has been tied up in a certification that has been going on for well over a year and that process has pre-empted the plan.

I hope you all have an incredible time and I look forward to "almost" being there through your FREQUENT!!! updates. This isn't at all the way I thought this was going to go, but I've gotten used to that.

Anwar needs to get his stuff together for Alliance, then Wings Over Houston for good measure. And Jim, you need to block off those two weeks to spend time with Anwar and just plain have fun with everyone.

No excuses this time.

Just some different processing this time.

Wow, an f0.0 lens, how big is that front element? Or would that be, how small is that front element?? Is that because it's a pre-chip lens?

Photographed a Falcon 50 last week for a client of mine and I am still working on my post processing with a reflection put in the photo.

Photographing a CLASSIC VW bus tomorrow, worth about $132k and then a King Air. I've seen the VW bus already and it is so amazing with the amount of detail the people went to, in fully restoring it back to it's "glory days". I've also got a beautiful model to work with, as well. Stay tuned.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ran into a scam today that I haven't seen before. Some joker professing to be the Personal Assistant to the President of a high end furniture company, that really does exist, contacted me for a quote on a "very important event". I was suspicious from the get go, because the wording was similar to the widow who needs my help getting her husband's fortune out of some burg no one has ever heard of. I decided I'd bite and give him a quote. He kept reiterating how "very, very busy" he was and the importance of his position, all the while absolutely murdering the King's English. My quote was accepted immediately, at which point he began telling me how they like to pay up front to make sure that I am committed to the project. At this point I felt like a call to the furniture designer was in order and of course they had no knowledge of this bonehead, other than the fact that I was the third photographer calling today asking about him.

Interesting that he would choose a local business that could be called for verification. I'm thinking the next move was going to be getting a PayPal account number, or a bank routing number, none of which he would have gotten. Anyway he has vanished into the woodwork, as it were... Which is good, because I'm spending all of my time trying to liberate a poor widows millions from a bank in Angola................Sheesh!
