#1 ranked (NCAA Div. III) UMHB played #6 ranked Hardin-Simmons Univeristy (HSU) Saturday in a Homecoming game that was a tale of two halves. In the first half, HSU walked all over UMHB scoring 28 points to UMHB's 7. HSU was in command from the opening kickoff until the end of the half. The home crowd couldn't believe what they saw asking "Did they forget how to play football?".
The second half was 180° different. UMHB was in command from the kickoff until the end of the game scoring 27 unanswered point to win 34-28. The turn around kept the homecoming crowd on their feet and cheering the entire second half.
Both teams kept the pressure on the opposing quarterbacks...
I saw a review on the R6 that showed some pretty substantial distortion on soccer/footballs due to the rolling shutter. The R5 has some of that as well.
Yep! That’s common with the electronic shutter. I don’t think the mechanical shutter is as bad. The guys in the B&H podcast (Rudy) said it doesn't happen as much with the R3.
It happens with the 7D II sometimes…remember this?
A partially restored B-17 for sale...amazing opportunity to spend some cubic dollars!
I was blessed with an opportunity to go airside at DFW last Friday night for the arrival of the first Turkish Airlines flight into the airport. They put out feelers on social media and 250 people put their hand up...10 were randomly picked...one bowed out at the last minute and I got a call to fill the spot! ( that DFW spotters FB page paid a second dividend! )
They took us out to taxiway echo...between the runways! Wowzers, that's a nice spot to shoot from!
The 787 arrived 20 minutes after sunset 1/2 hour behind schedule of course.
currently three mirrorless cameras in the market do not produce that funny looking ball effect when using electronic shutter, soon the Canon R3 will join that club
Good Morning Douglas. What's next on your list to shoot? Chandler and I are headed up to Arkanstol in a few days. Looking forward to the beautiful Ozark mountain backdrops and the grass strip they hold it on. Alliance is in a few weeks and that should wrap up the aviation events for 2021. I have an opportunity to join my Buddy Larry Grace out at El Centro in October, but I don't think that my schedule will allow it. We are going to meet up there in the Spring.

Hi Jim, airshows in our region are done for the year. Next I will shoot fall foliage and bald eagles, not much else interesting to me, may shoot snow in the winter. I may go to Pennsylvania for a day or two this week to shoot elks.
Exciting Friday Night Lights in Temple, TX last night.
Excitement began with Temple High School retiring "Mean" Joe Greene's Jersey and number. Why is it purple vs Temple Blue? When he attended his last year of high school in Temple, schools were still segregated. The Black School was called Dunbar High School and their colors were purple and white. Joe Greene has been a big part of turning his old high school into an early learning center for preschool kids. Nice guy too. The superintendent introduced him to nearly everyone and Joe Greene smiled and shook their hands. He also took the time to meet many young kids on the field (ball boys and coach's kids).
Then the game began. It looked bleak early on for the home team, they were down 21-0 after 1.5 quarters. The coach changed quarterbacks and he inspired the team to come back with 2 touchdowns making it 21-14 at halftime, including this touchdown catch. The home team dominated the second half and winning 44-34.
I am excited for this kid. He is committed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Arkanstol was a fun and different type of event. I had anticipated the backdrops being wonderful, and they were. Beautiful Ozark Mountain ridges and valleys everywhere one looks. Another neat characteristic of the event is the low altitude of the aircraft throughout their flight pattern, what a place to work on panning skills!
My focus was largely video this trip so Chandler was responsible for the still work. He likes the 1DXIII/100-400 combination. He hasn't shot much in the past year so I hesitated a bit when he told me that he decided to shoot everything at 1/80th or below because he wanted full discs on all of his images. In retrospect, he did ok................. His hit ratio was better than 80% and his full discs are the icing on the compositional cake.
