OK Brian, I think you are selling yourself short, especially given the great images you just posted. If I was a betting man, I'd put a chunk of money down on the fact that those pilots don't have any images like that of them flying their jets. I'd also guess that the airport/Base(?) Doesn't have any PR stock that nice either. Knock on a door there and show them your helicopter images, along with the trainer images you just posted and see if you can find a kindred spirit. I know it's difficult to walk up to that door, metaphorically, or actually, the first few times, but I can tell you that amazing things happen when you put yourself out there. I am a marketing guy to the soles of my shoes, but I have always had to push myself to cold call. Interestingly, some of the most wonderful things have come from doing just that, and you feel like you're walking on air when you leave someplace where you have put yourself out there, taken a chance, pushed your comfort zone, and someone on the other side of that door goes....."Holy Smokes!!! Guys, come and see what this gentleman captured..........!!!" That doesn't happen every time, but it has happened to me often enough that I have come to really enjoy climbing out on a limb just to see if it'll happen again.
I was in a meeting a week ago and the marketing director had other photographer's work spread all over the table in front of me, he had two photographers that he's worked with for years and seemed pleased with the resulting product. Did I like that much, no, not too much, but I told him that every single one of my clients had a photographer that they worked with before me, and some had multiples, then I proceeded to tell him how I would handle his account if I was fortunate enough to be chosen to shoot for him. Thirty minutes later I walked out with a handshake and a $113M project, with a very good chance of having all of their business within a month or two.
I realize that you aren't trying to sell them anything, you would be happy with better access, well so much the better, and you might just make a few bucks to feed your photographic habit in the bargain. In short, your images are ones that you should be proud of and those guys will like them. If there's access to be had, I'll bet you can make some inroads with that work in your hands. Let us know, and best of luck!...Show more →
Thank you for the kind words Jim and the vote of encouragement and confidence in my work.
you may of just planted a seed, the more i think of it and that it can't hurt to go and and least ask around
