The other thing I found when I used to play with video mounted on top of my lens, is that you tend to pick up the shutter noise from the camera in your video soundtrack.
Right y’all, hie ye to the cinema on the 27th December, and go see the film “They Shall Not Grow Old”. It’s only playing on that day in the US. I saw it last week on the other day it was being shown. https://www.atomtickets.com/movies/they-shall-not-grow-old/283232
It’s Peter Jackson’s new movie, in which he has restored a load of old WW1 footage from the Imperial War Museum, and brought it into living, breathing color and sound. They tell the story of the soldiers of that war, narrated in sound bites from the men who were there. Never have I come across a film that humanizes the soldiers as much as this does. Really amazing stuff.
Oh, and of course I get caught at the top. Here’s one from Kingsbury last month.
Merry Christmas to all of you and all of yours! Wishing you the Blessings and the Peace that this season offered a weary world a couple of thousand years ago, and still does to this day.
Merry Christmas everyone. Unfortunately I'm stuck at work, but hopefully you all are having good eats with family and friends.

The camcorders I am looking at all have XLR Mic inputs, so I'll be looking to follow that along to get the most out of the audio. Shutter noise shouldn't carry through to a shotgun mic I don't think.
Sheila just landed in Israel a few minutes ago. She's on a 10 day Bible study walking in The Footsteps, her dream trip and she deserves it.
Last night's DFW weather was a bit dicey. I waited at Founders for her to depart and we texted back and forth for a couple of hours as I watched the weather. Funny, they were landing and departing a few sporadically , then just landing because the crud was over and south of the field. There were 30 airplanes stacked for departure on the west side and they weren't letting any of them go. I was watching her 787 signature at her gate when all of a sudden it rotated, circumvented a bunch of planes in line, lined up and bolted. Everything else was still sitting in line, even a cargo 747. You just can't predict it, she said the first few minutes were a little choppy and it was smooth the whole rest of the way. I'm standing at Founders watching trees bend over in 50 knot gusts with torrential rain thinking, ugh! Her captain even disarmed the cabin doors so that anyone who was uncomfortable could get off, lovely weather for a flight.
That sounds like a fantastic trip, Jim. I was going to ask you where she was headed. My aunt and uncle did a trip like that some years ago. An overwhelming combination of history and religion.
Yes, I haven’t heard anyone say that their trip to Israel didn’t touch them deeply. Sheila and I were going to do it together at some point, but a close friend of ours called a few months ago to see if she’d like to go with her. The timing was perfect, Sheila being Sheila was hesitant to spend the money so I told her that if she didn’t go I would spend that amount on something for the hangar , so she should go. I am having twinges about not being with her, but this was a good decision. Who knows how long we might have waited to spend $12K on the trip for both of us and this gives me ten days to get spooled up for 2019 and get some other things that have been hanging over my head taken care of.
We’re going to do a series of trips this year for our 50th anniversary and haven’t decided if they’ll all be domestic or if we’ll venture further. I think one of them will be a trip down the west coast on Hwy 1, depending upon mud slides, wild fires, etc.

Ah, just seen this about Sheila’s trip. Thinking back, I’ve only waved off my other half twice – in 37 years. Bless her, it’s been the other way round countless times. Have to say it felt very strange. On the one hand your so pleased for them, clearly the trip of a lifetime. On the other hand the house feels kinda empty – then you realise that it’s ones life that's empty – not just the house. Still I’m sure that there will be many willing hands to help you with all those difficult menu selections ….. In Or Out (Burger)......
Hope everyone is enjoying the festive period, I hope you all have a safe & successful 2019.
I have finally taken the plunge and set myself a new challenge for the new year, not sure how long this journey is going to take, at what point it will end or what I'll see along the way but I hope it will be fulfilling....
