Been dodging Texas thunderstorms in an R22 today, but between yesterday and today we got it all done. My new Sony PXW Z280 began it's, hopefully, long career in the air yesterday and performed superbly.
Between my shooting schedule and the addition of more and more 4K media, the ever present need for more storage has risen to the fore. Fortunately, OWC (I'm a dealer) just announced their new Thunderbay 6 Raid enclosure with SoftRaid. I've got one arriving late next week and 6 12TB Seagate Gold Helium Filled NAS Data Center Drives arriving about the same time. That should solve my dilemma, .........................for a month! Depending upon how this set up performs I need to have three of them at HQ and retire my Drobos in that location, then build the same system at home. Would love it all to be solid state, but it's just still way too expensive.
Finally got to do my flight in the Mustang with Stallion51. In the end I took the advice to enjoy the ride and forget about Photography for once. It was a great experience, with surprisingly positive comments from my instructor on my flying ability & smoothness.
Have put a short video of two of my manoeuvres on Twitter:

"Along with the full-scale aircraft, the event includes period re-enactors in a war encampment setting; era automobiles on display and participating in a parade, flying exhibitions by WWI radio-controlled aircraft; guest speakers, a collector’s show for WWI items, and merchandise for sale. "
What's the current consensus on action cameras? I know Jim likes the Rylo, but that's $500 and I don't really need 360 degrees.
I'm thinking the GoPro Hero6 Black is the way I'm going to go ($350 at B&H). I like the idea of a touch screen and no need for a waterproof case. Plus wifi control and voice control.
My main use is going to be recording my daughter's last hockey season. I'll mount it to the glass while I shoot stills. I can start and stop with my phone, or maybe even voice control will work.
I'm not keen on a regular video camera, as I don't think I'll have a need for regular video after this season, but I'm sure I can come up with action-type uses that the GoPro would excel at.
