This NAB announcement led me to pre-order the sequel to my beloved PXW Z150.............shipping in July they say. I spoke with my Sony insiders this morning and it appears to be an amazing tool, the first 4K 3 chip camera in the world.
Ha, I clocked that ..... figured you "might" be interested. Oh, and just look at this - yes I know it's way too much at the moment - but just look at how fast ssd capacity / price is improving.
I'm a reseller for OWC so they sent me some pre-release info on those a few months ago, very cool. I can buy a 48TB ThunderBay Raid 5 four disc enclosure for about $1800, or the 48TB SSD unit for 30K, hmmmmm........Sure wish that technology would get in line quicker.

Not so fast young Sir. I know you did that just to see if I'm paying attention. A 48TB 4 disk RAID 5 array means that each disk needs to be 48/3 = 16TB. Do they have 16TB spinners yet? See - I got your 6 and you didn't even know I was there.
And I appreciate that, the OWC is a 4 bay at 12TB per bay. The Drobo's are 5 bay units so they are 60TB. Oh, I see what you are saying, capacity considering redundancy............well done Sir!

Undermine...? Thanks goodness they are at least doing that. Impeachment is what they should be doing.
It appears that Glenn is in my home town (Tuscaloosa, AL) taking pictures of the Blues. I will not steal his thunder but I hope he shares the Blues over Bryant Denny Stadium with you guys! It is a great shot!

Well Jeremy, that's what makes this country great, different perspectives and the ability to voice them. The opposite side of the aisle could hold the same views about the complete disregard for the Constitution and rule of law that went on for the 8 years in the previous administration. I guess we'll see how it all shakes out. The thing you have in your favor is that in all my years, I've never seen an opportunity handed to Republicans that they couldn't screw up.
Anyway, know that I value your right to hold those opinions as much as I value my own, we just have different visions for 'Merica.

Hope to meet Glenn this weekend!
That's great! I had talked with Glenn and Adam Baker about coming over for the show this weekend, but Glenn was on the fence about being able to make it, glad he did. Hope your weather is great, have a good time!
This has been a long week for a number of reasons, good, but challenging. Back to back assignments that were physically demanding and exhausting. Tuesday evening as I launched into the dusk phase of a two part swimming pool assignment that began at dawn that day. I set up the first shot, lit the fire pits and began soaking down all the limestone and travertine surfaces. Somehow, in the muted light, the hose grazed on foot of my tripod as I pulled it across the deck. I was just a little too far from it to arrest the impending fall and impact, lunging toward it I watched in seeming slo-mo as my TSE 24/5DSR went face down into the mulched bed. Too tired to react appropriately, I muttered something to my self about paying attention and not doing dumb things. I picked up the pieces, stuck another body and lens atop the uprighted ball head and carried on, trying not to think of the price my inattention just extracted from me. Unfortunately, you really can't file an insurance claim because they'll raise deductibles, rates, or pay it and cancel you, so you just fix it if possible, or replace whatever took the hit.
My long standing relationship with Canon and CPS is invaluable, my destroyed 24TSE will be back on Monday, and Canon provided me with a loaner in the interim. Instead of my mishap being a $2,000 punch, the tab is a much more palatable (still no fun) $514.00 and my 24 will be perfect again.

I wish you had been able to make the trip Jim. Would have loved to meet you in person.
UGH. Glad my week has been just powerpoints, videos, and casings (sorting mail according to the way it's supposed to be passed out), other than the driving fun on Monday. Saturday is my first day of actual OJT after academy, and we're due for thunderstorms. Had to go buy a rain suit and boots.

Ah, the wonderful world of insurance. You don't dare not have it and you hardly dare use it.
Exactly Jerry, what a racket huh? The Dr. who owns the home I was shooting was trying to make me feel a little better and asked what my deductible was, I told him my insurance is reserved for when i walk out of the hotel and my Landcruiser and trailer aren't in the parking lot anymore, the catastrophic events.
This was obviously my fault, you know how you get a little sloppy when it's late and you're exhausted? That was this, I should have moved my tripod and camera out of the way, stretched the hose out and away from the spot and shot away, lesson learned......again.
I have routine for these pool installation assignments, an early morning stint for several hours and then the same starting around 6pm. Styling the compositions and keeping everything wet down is pretty demanding physically, so I'm pretty worn out by dusk. They're fun though, and peaceful environments to shoot.........
Boy this is the week for throwing $$$ at stuff that's no fun! Sheila reminded me that we need to get the newest Shingles vaccine.............$660 for the two of us, $330 now then the same in two months for the booster. Back to the insurance subject, the pharmacist was pleased to tell us that Medicare pays zero, our supplemental insurance chipped in seven bucks (woohoo!) I just decided that it would cost me a lot more than that if I got Shingles so we bit the bullet.
