OK this is the one that is going into the next round (in 2 week's time). I've cropped tighter, increased detail in the engine driver's face, and reduced the bright lights. I'll let you know how it gets on
Niall
Well Niall, if it doesn't sweep the competition, then I have no idea what to tell you because it's iconic. Was the steam/smoke from the locomotive or was that added via a generator for the shoot?
That image i a really good example of what we have been discussing. A lot of photographers would have been very tempted to pump that photograph up in some plug in/HDR something or other. Doing that, in my opinion would have destroyed the subtleties that make it what it is, purely wonderful.

Good Morning/Evening Anwar! Looks like you're having a great time! Given the billions in deals that are being made on that ramp, there must be a few million in loose bills just blowing around...........

Yikes! What is it with rich folks and gold taps/faucets?
Anyway, Niall's train/steam/mystery/vintage image is lovely and I hope it wins.
Good Morning Jo!
I hear you, gold has long been a symbol of opulence, and for certain corners of the world it can't be used enough I guess. Way overdone in many jet interiors. That's why I don't have any in the Cub
Special day here in our humble little home – I can exclusively reveal (as they say in the media) that Mrs J spent the afternoon making our Christmas Cake. Now, in these parts that is a Big Deal. Shed loads of dried fruit seeped in brandy for several days – many additional ingredients – much mixing, blending and folding – 140 c for 3hrs and 40 mins. Result …. a trad rich fruit cake to die for!
Of course, none of this was in any way influenced by the availability (on an offer!) of bottled nectar with a lable saying “Campbells Rutherglen Muscat”. Now if all this is too much for anyone, don’t worry – I’ll take care of any surplus.

The loco was completely 'dead' - the event was to start to raise money to put it back in steam - it was moved around by a diesel locomotive to get different scenes for the shoot. The chap running it put one small smoke generator in the smoke box to get some wisps of smoke out of the funnel and a big one at the back BUT he also had a small radio-operated one that he put under the footplate behind the outside cylinder that produced small pulses of smoke (steam) as if the cylinders were moving! These latter two can be seen in this image. He is very talented

If any of our transatlantic friends wonder why I found the expression "Campbells Rutherglen Muscat” surprising it's because Rutherglen is on the outskirts of Glasgow In about 1900 it looked as here - not a location that one thinks of automatically next to muscat!!
Incidentally, the Breitling Wingwalkers (Nick's other post) have recently announced that Breitling have stopped sponsoring them and they are looking for/negotiating with a new sponsor for the 2018 season.

What, and no picture..................?!
Well OK. Now I know why you don't do food (well the photography bit) Whilst the Commander in Chief was out I managed to sneak the cake out of it's "maturing" blanket (brandy feeding for the use of). Here it is - along with it's bottle buddy.

Thanks for the photo Niall, but you do need to visit the optician - can you not see the grape vines in the foreground? .
