You have seen shots of it, but you've slept since then so they may have been expunged from your memory
Dee leaves it at HQ when he comes into town for business. I'll find some shots and repost. We have been going to shoot his collection at some point, but neither of us slows down long enough to get it done.

My Buddy Dee decided to fly his beautiful Phenom 300 to Ireland a few weeks ago. He stopped off in Iceland along the way as well. What an experience! I photographed Dee and his G36 Bonanza for Pilot Journal years ago and the thought he was in tall cotton then. He's moved on to a whole new crop! Dee now owns the most immaculate Ford Tri-Motor in the world, a beautiful Waco Biplane, a pristine Tucano, the Phenom and last we talked, he was trying to buy the nicest DC3 in existence. One of the beautiful things about Dee is, he doesn't even know he's "Dee"....Show more →
Very nice image Jim, but.........
Jay would have included the entire aircraft reflection in the photo.
Edit: Sorry, "quoted" post doesn't include original image.
First, WOW! I had no idea that Spitfire experience existed, what a bucket list item! Wonder what they would do for you if you chartered the Bell by yourself, (bringing a Buddy of course ? Suppose they'd pull the doors?
On the white balance subject, Sheila would tell you that I can't differentiate between dark sock colors so I don't know if my white balance advice holds water. What is that verse in the Bible? Mark 6:4, Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home." Glad to know that experience isn't limited to me
That image was captured on my Fuji 617 Panoramic Camera, just east of the Grand Canyon. I had a high res drum scan done of it for fine art prints. In answer to your question, when I'm proofing prints I guess I go for the whites in the clouds and let the rest fall. That was sunset so the light was pretty warm. I have another one that I captured a few minutes after that exposure and the full moon is rising just above the cloud layer on the left, it's pretty, but the formations during the exposure I posted are more dramatic. The print is titled "Virga Over The Painted Desert". I had Why 100 40" panos made on Cibachrome, only three prints remain. The image hangs in spots like the Exxon CEO's outer office, Trammell Crow's office (prior to his passing) and a number of equally lofty locations.
".....Sheila would tell you that I can't differentiate between dark sock colors..... " Why is that a problem? My CinC has equipped me with a full set of idiot socks. You must have them over there. You know, the ones with the brightly coloured heal piece. Different colour for each pair. We are about to take this concept a step forward - my co-ordinated, one colour for each day, meds box should arrive any day now.
Easy fix re: sock colors. Buy 21 pairs of the same socks. Doesn't matter which one goes with which one, then. Rotate through the entire collection every time so they all get the same wear, and this way you have enough socks (do same for underwear) and problem solved. Also works great for extended trips.

No no no.... if all 21 pairs are the same how do you know you've rotated them? How do you know which ones are clean if your old and grey and have no sense of smell? Remember, it's attention to the small details that are the hallmark of good systems engineering.
On the Other news I hope that Stevo will break the speed record in the P51 Voodoo saw some clips on FB and the sound of that Merlin was out of this world

Newly washed to the back of the drawer, pulled forward as you go through the front section. If the dryer eats a sock or three, you still have pairs that match.

I could go all David Letterman and just wear white socks..........naaaa can't stand Letterman. I could go commando (sock-wise) and re-start a trend from way back in high school.........?
My 5K iMac is annoying me. It has done this for a long time but it feels like its getting worse. I constantly come back to it and it has "restarted due to a problem". I'll be working away and the screen will flicker to black then the chinese message comes up and it shuts down. An old fashioned kernel panic I guess, but what is causing it? I need to disconnect everything and see if it does it. Frustrating!

Oh, before I forget, Welcome back Rodolfo! Hope all is wonderful in your world!!
Yup, I'm glad to be able to say that life is going very well. Anya will be 15 in three weeks -- you'll see some images of her soon, and we're going to Paris to celebrate her birthday instead of throwing a big party. My babies are growing, and thankfully work is too: new clients in Peru, new hires in the office, and we've just (finally!) moved into our new and hopefully long-term home.
Lots of good stuff going on, and we're all healthy. Very grateful to be where we are. And I'm (again, finallly) starting to open up Lightroom or pick up a camera here or there. I feel like I'm gradually getting the hang of this...
Forgot to let people know in case somebody wants to "jump the line" (MATA folk should always get preference when one of us sells gear, IMHO). I'm starting to reevaluate my photo gear, and a bunch of stuff is going to get sold for various reasons. A D800 body got sold yesterday, and at least the following will also go:
Nikon: D800E, D810, 70-200/2.8G, 24 PC-E, 80-400G, two SB-900, 500/4, V1 kit, don't remember what else.

That's what I do I have one drawer full of pairs of identical M&S black socks and one full of identical cream/brown socks -(depends whether I'm wearing dark blue or khaki chinos) They go in the dirty washing and then, when I'm pairing the clean ones, any too worn get discarded. There is a third sock drawer for sports socks and the Simpson/Spitfire etc socks I get from the grandchildren for Christmas!!
From Shuttleworth Edwardian airshow (at which no Edwardian aircraft flew as too windy!)
Then you'd be replacing the shoes/sneakers far more often. P U!! I have seven uniforms for work, and rotate through them. Four pairs of shoes for work as well, so that I'm not wearing the same shoes every day, they get an opportunity to dry out and rebound. When there have been "accidents" at work, they go in the wash to get clean.

JR is headed to Houston with a group of his partners. They bought a bunch of boats and are headed there now to see what they can do. I told him to get a Tetanus shot and keep an eye out for the over 1M alligators that are displaced and probably not in a real good mood, not to mention the snakes.
