I think I have a full set of the 'Portsmouth Papers' covering the Palmerston Forts (Plus Fort Monkcton) My dad always used to say that they were called Palmerston's Follies because they were built facing the wrong way (he thought they were intended to fire over the Harbour out into Spithead, but of course they were intended to stop a French army that had landed at eg Southampton marching round and taking Portsmouth from the rear! The reason for their name is (like many military items) they cost a fortune and were never needed. Have you been out to Spit Sand Fort in Spithead - you used to be able to get a boat from the ferry pontoon but I don't know if it is still open. I got a photo of from the Wightlink Ferry in July when we went to collect our new puppy from Ventnor
Looks like I'll be heading to LA to spend some time with the folks at RED. Pending some testing and evaluation I've decided that it may be a good idea to step up to a RED Weapon 8K. Could be shooting with it at AFW 2017. Stay tuned.......
P.S. I'm fully prepared for the possibility of discovering that the whole "RED" cult is "the emperor's new clothes" syndrome on steroids, and end up with a Sony F55, or the new sequel that Sony is hinting at releasing very soon. Getting my hands on a RED and actually shooting with it should tell me what I need to know.

Puppy from Ventnor - tell more - make, model, mod state, tricked up or dressed down?
From my perspective the Forts where a great success. No French invasion, not a shot fired - DEAL! Bonus, they are all made from brick - boy would you ever like to be in that business back in about 1850?

She is Welsh Springer Spaniel (just declared by the Kennel Club to be a vulnerable breed as there are so few of them) born 21st March and growing like a rocket!!
Interesting to see that Vampire photo. I just heard that for the first time there will be a de Havilland D.H. 115 Vampire flying at the Cleveland airshow this year Sept 2-4th.
