We could only dream...
When I called Canon about my Mk3 shots looking soft and out of focus the first thing he said was "are you looking at the display or actual pictures?" HA!!! Kind of tells you something about that fantastic display it has. (sarcasm)
So you don't think Canon will come out with a higher resolution LCD screen on their next 1D series release?

I doubt they will fix the Mk3's resolution. But looking at their past record they will certainly fix it in their next series...and charge double for the camera.

I too don't believe Canon will take your 1D Mark 3 and fit it with a higher resolution LCD screen either but I think it safe to assume such a screen would be a feature of the next new 1D series release or N version revision.
The 1D2N initial release price wasn't that far off the 1D3 release price, so double I don't think it will be!

Henry, why not buy a used 1D2N to tide you over until you have your 1D3 fixed?
Once your 1D3 is fixed and you are confident in it, you could probably sell the N with little or no loss. Just a thought.
I have thought about it as well as considered just picking up a 5D in the interim. The problem is that neither camera met my needs and desires before which is why I held on to my 20D until the 1DMkIII was released. Also, mushing things up is that I am involved in a project where the D3 would excel (as would the 1DMkIII) so that flavors my thinking a bit as well.
The question of picking up another Canon body has to be accompanied with a question on how long the 1DMkIII fix will take. So far its been nine months and Canon has taken my camera from occasional but significant problems to totally unusable. Not very reassuring, especially when I see people like Jeff showing continuing problems with new bodies and the reports of sensor alignment problems with the 1DsMkIII.

This is why I gave up, my dealer gave me a full refund £2995 for my mk3 so made it less painfull to buy the Nikon D3
I now see how bad the focus was on my canons compared to the D3, no regrets
selling my lenses was a quick process so now I take pics no more testing after 8 months of waiting for canon its now over.
Wow, thanks for sharing that. That guy gave a great quote if I might say so, speaking about the dust problem with the 100-400mm... "Dust only matters on 2 occasions, when you buy a lens, and when you sell a lens, but never when you are using it."

Those are some mighty fine shots which is very encouraging. The only question I have is where can you buy a camera that actually can take those?
Seeing those shots almost makes me weaken my resolve not to touch the 1D III. However, I waiting until I hear what this supposed new fix is. Maybe if they can demonstrate a real fix once-and-for-all and if I could get it for around $3.5K then I'll reconsider.

Yeah.. So now only things that aren't blue will be OOF.
In all seriousness, I haven't had the real opportunity to thoroughly test my lenses at various FL since the mess up. I feel like I have adjusted them enough to make it usable. However, I still do not see results like those Eagle pics that is for sure. Not even close. Prior to the submirror fix, I'd say I got very good results with all my lenses and NO micro adjustment.
I am just confused as to what to do next. Sending it back again gives me no faith since there is nothing officially new and my lack of confidence has me relying on my 5D more. I hope to get more of a serious test in with my MKIII and 300 F2.8 soon... But I just haven't had the opportunity. The fact they royally front focused my body with the first "fix" makes me extremely gun shy.
And to think, I was one of the more vocal advocates of this body prior to their "FIX".
