I think its funny that everyone holds their breath waiting on ONE person to tell them wether its OK or not to buy another camera, or to send theirs in and have the repair done. Why not talk to the actual pro's who are out shooting with the newer serial numbers and those with the Blue Dot boxes that have been bought. Surely your all not a bunch of sheep living and dying by the word of one person are you?
I attended a Canon CPS roadshow a couple of weeks back, I only attended as I wanted to ask the CPS guys when the repairs were going to start and if CPS members would have priority on the first bodies to be repaired. The rep was getting an ear bashing from a wedding wannabie who was showing some 6"x 4" one hour prints he had taken at his last wedding with a EOS 3 film camera, and some inkjets he had taken of the same shots on a used 300D with a kit lens. He was saying that the digital images were crap compared to his old EOS 3. This guy as all none pros do when they attend one of these shows had brought with him all his kit plus a tripod and monopod. I looked in amazement at the 300D as the rep was trying hard to control himself, and asked the guy if this was the setup that he had used for the wedding, to which he replied that it was. The guy had not 1 but 3 filters on the front of the kit lens, a UV, Skylight and believe me a Polarizing filter. By this time there must have been 10 agency photographers waiting to speak to the staff, I very politely told the wannabie the error of his ways, and he retreated to his car at great speed. Thank God he had not brought the mk3.

PS. I forgot to say, Canon UK will be doing the repair to CPS members bodies first, and that they where only waiting for tooling to arrive which would be as Canon have already stated at the end of November
