James,
Dude...you can test the weather sealing at the same time you test the AI Servo focusing. Just go stand in the rain and take pictures of the traffic as it comes towards you.
Canon has just updated the issue range, they exempted about 3500 camera serials that are within the range but "post countermeasure."
Probably those blue dot boxes people have received yet with cameras within the serial issue range. I'm sure dealers complained they would be hard to sell.

my new MK3 is on that new list with and the Dot on the box, but I feel my camera is back focusing fairly frequently at least with mt 300 2.8 on it. BTW this is my 2nd MK3 the first one went back.
If the serial number on the bottom of the camera is between 501001 and 546561, it could be affected by the “AF mirror adjustment issue", with exception of the serial numbers click here which are post-counter measure products.
How's that crow taste now jim

This is merely an assumption by you and unless you have some definitive proof to back it up from Canon , or someone who actually knows for sure, it means nothing. Just another guess about what is going on and not supported by any definitive documentation.
Just like I've been saying for about a week now. I'm glad Canon decided to say it as well.

Did you try the focus offset adjustment the III has?

I plan on working on that in the morning with several lenses, but I will still send it in for bench calibration. In the future I will use the focus offset adjustment for fine tuning on individual assignments where a little front or back focus can be a useful tool.

What crow?
At the time I made that statement there was no definitive proof and now there is. So whats your point other than acting like an ass?
I never made a claim to know anything more than Canon had told us at the time. Now they have chose to share more information to clarify the issue.
You claims were based on your assumption rather than fact and now the facts support your assumptions. Do you want a pat on your head?
I would be eating crow if I had made assumptions and they were not backed by facts. I never made any assumptions beyond what Canon had provided in their bulletin.
Jim, the only one who was acting the 'ass' was you. This is the internet and we are very lucky to have gotten the 'proof' to satisfy your extremely high level of disbelief. I'm glad it came about and we can all sleep happy thoughts. Now when you get your sub 546561 body, just pack it up and send it back like you said you would. Just remember now, like I've said over and over, it's all about the production code!

I also don't agree that the date code of OV1005 means it was produced with the manufacturing update of the fix. I believe only those with a serial number outside of 546561 can be trusted. Mine goes back if it isn't outside of that serial number whether it has a blue dot or not. I just don't trust Canon enough beyond their admission of the effected serial numbers.
Blue dot, pink dot...whatever. All I want to know is are the "fixed bodies" actually FIXED? Can anyone, who has received a fixed body, have tested it and found the focusing issue is still a problem?
My dealer called me yesterday and has a "replacement body" for me to pick up this afternoon. I want to be able to check the serial number and be comfortable knowing that when I take the new body home it will work as intended.
EDIT: Collected the new camera today and am now charging the battery. It has a serial number that is in the range of problem cameras but is on the "exemption" list that is provided in this previously posted link.
