p.1 #1 · # 270 Mardi Gras Girl

A framed portrait of my daughter, Csilla in a dress she made for herself.

I decided to change the photo to another one because of the problem with the fingers in the left corner. I also kind of like her expression in this one better. I'll repost the original one at the end.

Wow Endre, a very Victorian feel to this shot. That is quite the head ornament Csilla is sporting. So well done as usual.

Thanks so much, tom, my friend! i always appreciate your kind comments on my shots. Actually, the feathers come from a Mardi Gras mask pinned onto her hair backwards so the feathers face foward from behind her head. i thought the combination of bright feathers and teh black frame would look rather striking.

Fond regards,

Endre

Endre,
Once again you have captured a "10"
Your daughter is beautiful, the colors used in the shot are so vibrant, focus is sharp and the pride of a father is communicated with clarity!
Well done!

Endre,

To quote (approximately) Donkey, Eddie Murphy's character in one of the Shrek movies, "Girl, you are really working that hat!" This is a cute, whimsical photograph, so well done, as usual. No surprise there, my friend.

Best regards,
Robert

Thanks, Karen. I'm so glad you like it. I only took a few shots because right then it started to rain (Yep - rain in Los Angeles!!! ) Two minutes after i packed up, it stopped again. Fortunately, Csilla likes to dress up so she was a cooperative model.

FAll the best,

Endre

I've studied your image seveal times now Endre and it's just striking!. The color tones are great and very eye-catching. I love the pose, the lighting, and the angle of the frame makes me feel as if the subject herself is mocking the portrait and rises above it.
A real winner all around!

Thanks, Bev, my dear friend! I always appreciate your kind comments. Here's another one I processed today from the same shoot. Csilla didn't like the one I posted ("Vanity - thy name is... ) and preferred this one better, but i'm sticking to my guns, unless there is an overwhelming clamor for me to switch them.

Fond regards,

Endre

Endre my friend I won't repeat everyone compliment about your entry but I second them. Congrats !

However I think it could have been even better (to me).
I don't like the left hand (and especially finger) being cut. I find the necklace a bit "missplaced". Lastly I feel she was looking away.
I agree with her and like the other one better (more original, dynamic, look more intense) but it's a matter of taste and both are very good pictures.

Cheers,

Julien

Thanks so much, Julien. I appreciate your kind comments and constructive suggestions. It was my fault for having her hand positioned so that the fingers had to be cut off in. It was wrong in the viewfinder and nothing could be done about it. However, I did yet another one but in B & W that didn't have the hand in it. I could do a color version, as well. Here - to confuse the issue further - is that one.

All best wishes,

Endre
