Strangely this is the first time I have actually asked a question on FM, here goes:
In early 2009 my sister will be getting married. She and my future B-in-law are beginning to scope out venues and photographers etc...
I would very much like to know if there are any photographers in the north-west of England (Mersyside-Cheshire area) who you could wholeheartedly recommend considering. I would say that cost is not an issue, that is to say they appreciate quality costs, not of course that they can afford David Bailey. I'll be keeping my eye on their choice of photographer to avoid any nasty surprises, but a few suggestions of consummate proffesionals in the region would be gratefully appreciated. 1st hand experience of/with the photog' in question would be preferable.

I'm not sure where Jeff Ascough is but i would say distance would not be an issue.
Also if you check his blog and check the sites of those who comment. I did that last week and there were several excellent shooters.
What about bringing in a destination photographer from overseas?
Caroline White is just up the road from me, however, not really looked at her work enough to comment - had some bad reports from a couple of people, but then people can sometimes exagerate, and these were guests at the weddings that she photographed, rather than the couples she photographed.
I can recommend www.garyskerratt.com who I know very well and is a really top guy.
I'm in Cheshire, but won't be attending any bridal shows for at least another year and a half.

definitely second lesley meredith! her work is stunning. if you're looking in that price range andrea barrett is also fantastic and a lovely lady (granted i've only met her twice, but she was really nice and easy to speak to.)
NWPhotography, I'm curious what you have heard about Caroline. We've recommended quite a few people to her when we are not available, since she did such a good job of ours & now you have me slightly worried!
Cor blimey, I see what you mean about Gordon McGowan, excellent contempory images. I just need to find a local windswept moor for some signiature images...
