Damn computers, they only do what you tell them to not what you meant to tell them to do. Fixed the links so that they are up now.
Now I see them...whoaaa...that first mantis shot makes me want to step back from the monitor! And the last butterfly shot is amazing...what is the background for that, what lens...a little EXIF please.
Nice work Cris, although I have to say two of those birds look a little haggard. Kinda like HDTV...but we really want that much detail all the time! JK

Glad you like them.
Both butterfly shots were with a 300 F4 L. The in flight shot was at F7.1 @ 1/2000 @ ISO 400. The background is a field of the same flowers that are in the other butterfly pic which was shot at F8 @ 1/800 @ ISO 400.
The two pictures of Ralph the Mantis were shot at F14 @ 1/125 and F16 @ 1/100 respectively with a 180mm L macro.
A few more from yesterday at our local bird sanctuary. Love how clean the high ISO images of the MK3 are. This beautiful camera gives me at least one extra stop to play with due to its excellent high ISO performance. I used to limit myself to ISO 800 with my 1DMk2.
i'm a nikon shooter myself, but i like to stroll around in other forums too in search of great images. And i have to say that this is a superb thread. you guys show superb captures
One portrait from yesterday, getting brave using the flash on this camera and have been using it more these past two weeks then I have in 6 months. Don't know if it's the camera or just getting a little more confident with the 580 EX I.
It has taken me a bit to dial in my camera and timing with the 1d3 vs 1d2 but the effort is worth it. Here are a selection of shots from Army vs University of Rhode Island football and youth soccer from the last two weeks. The things I really like are the speed of AF once I adjusted to it and the file quality. The shots from the 1D3 just seem more saturated and more flexible as far as pushing them for highlight and shadow recovery. I don't know that I can quantify it but that's my impression. Still alot to learn about this camera.
All shot with 1D3, Raw processed in Aperture minimally then resized for web and posted. EXIF as noted.
#1 - Canon EOS-1D Mark III ,Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS, w/2x Canon TC2
1/2000s f/5.6 at 600.0mm iso400
One last note... when shooting 2 bodies, the 1d2 and 1d3 together it didn't take long to adjust at all to the AF On placement vs * button which I thought it would when quickly switching cameras on the sideline.
Great shots guys and gals!, I have had my ups and downs with this camera but when it's up it is realy up!. I find anything above my 200mm using AI servo I have the most troubles with. Anyway here are some I felt are nice:
