I went in to update my shipping. Didn't change anything, kept it at next day & clicked update. It's now showing "Delivery estimate: August 31, 2007".
Same for me. Needless to say that if it arrives on Friday, my weekend will be spent with my new toy.
I have ordered mine through CamerasDirect in Australia called them yesterday & they are receiving 40D today Thursday 30th & shipping same day.
Should have very soon
Just a word to those buying from Amazon and who have not bought breakables from that firm before:
Amazon packs everything in the same Amazon boxes. The UPS guy sees Amazon on the box and says to himself, "Oh, books. Not breakable." He treats it accordingly. At my house I have a small front courtyard with an unlocked iron gate. The regular UPS guy always comes to the door, while the subs take the short cut: drop it over the gate. That five foot drop has caused me to send back a computer hard drive and a lens. On both occasions, I was at home when the UPS guy came--and I heard the box bang on the cement walk. He never even tried to come through the gate.
The lens would not autofocus--I guess it could have been defective. The hard drive, I didn't even try. Took it direct to UPS to file a claim.
I've corresponded with Amazon about this, suggesting that they add appropriate labels to boxes with breakables, but they're too big to care. So if your 40D does not perform as you hope, it may be because UPS treated it like books along the way.
If you have tried to update your Amazon order, it might be useful to others if you included when you placed your order as well as expected delivery date.
I placed my order within 3 hrs of Amazon's original posting, and they now say it should be here tomorrow.

Was set to deliver the week of September 24th w/ standard shipping.
1 day shipping and it said August 31.
I won't be here so I changed it back.
Then it said Sept 27-Oct 1
Then I changed it back to 1 day and it said Sept. 7th.
Then I changed it to 2 day and it said Sept. 4th.
I like the number 4 so I left it alone.
So the big question is:
If I get it on September 4th and I have a big wedding to shoot on September 8th, do I use it?
If you're interested on the new Canon 40D, you may want to give Berger-Bros. a call - www.berger-bros.com - they are expecting shipment today & tomorrow.
You may ask for Brad Berger (president) and let him know that Tony sent you. Very nice person to deal with. I've purchased from them before including the Canon MKII when it first came out and I was one of the first one's to have it. This is a family business that's been around for decades.
Just passing down some good information. They can be reached at 631-264-4160.
Man where is all this Berger Brothers stuff coming from? I don't mean to offend but I have been on the forums for years and never heard of them. Now over the past few days I've seen various posters on multiple forums posting about Berger Brothers having the 40D.
According to the spam on dpreview they were receiving 25 40D's on Thursday, then it changed to Friday, and they have pre-sold all 25.

B&H seems to always get their stuff last. I find it hard to beleive that they have no idea when they will be getting the 40D's in stock, yeah right. When I got my 30D all the "big boys" were the last to start shipping. Amazon and others are all saying that shipping should start today or tomorrow, but B&H still has no idea when they will get the camera?
