Does anyone remember if the 20D/30D sold out and needed a waiting list? I would think with the Rebels and 40Ds Canon would want to maximize their supply and sell as many as they can.
I was on a waiting list for 2 months (And I ordered mine about a week after it was announced) and was told I would have to wait till at least another month for mine to arrive. I went into a local camera store and they had got one in stock for a customer who wanted the kit version, But was sold a Body only. So I got the body and all the accessories and usual stuff, But didn't get the box. I was offered the box as the customer was going to bring it back when they came to pick up the lens, But I declined (Don't need more clutter). I did get a discount though.
The 30D wasn't as bad from what I remember, But the 20D was very hard to come by when it was announced!

Dave
I think what they meant was alot of people bought the 20D kit due to lack of body-only stock and sold the kit lens immediately, and because alot of people upgraded from the 10D to the 20D then there was alot of 2nd hand 10D's on the market too.
As others have said though, the 20D was quite hard to get your mitts on just after release.
I just finally received a 30D to replace my 20D under warranty for shutter failure, I'm content. After not having a SLR all winter (prime eagle shooting season), I am happy with what I have.
Did you see that the screenshot from BB (the new one) has an out stock date of 9/2/2010, so I guess that is when we can expect the 50D. Good to get that out of the way now .
Nothernlights is also reporting that someone went to BB and asked them to look up the upc number and it was in their system.
Yes, there have been other reports of people going to BB and looking... and found the listing... I was going to do it myself at lunch today, but didn't get around to it.
Bottom line, is I have little or no doubt that the BB thing is real.
I predict the 40D or 50D or whatever they decide to call the next 30D won't be out until Oct or Nov. Maybe not until Mar of 08. Rumors!! After all they are just rumors!!
The BB it's real, trust me, the "W", it's a kit with the 28-135IS lens that comes with it. I just checked right now. so the 1599 it's the kit price with the lens included. take care.
Why on earth would Canon offer the 28-135 IS as the kit lens for the 40D?
The only way this would make sense, is if Canon added a APS-H or full framed sensor to the 40D!
There you have it people, More rumours for you to spread!

If legit, that is probably a best buy package and not canon's. I've seen other places do the same thing with the 30D. BB probably got a deal on the 28-135 and packaged it on their own.

The latest photos that most people seem to be accepting as the real thing, show it as APS-C because it is mounting what appears to be an EF-S 17-85mm.
the lens it's a 28-135 IS I saw this today, I have access to the BB system, you could believe what you want, I don't care I just thought I let you know. I do not get anything more or less by getting your approval. that is just what the system shows.

I think Janez Nori would quote it on his PMA-RUMOUR board and link it back to FM as a "new" rumor.
Thing is though the majority of the specifications being touted (sensor resolution, burst rate, ISO range etc) is still totally speculation. Also having worked for a very major online consumer electronics & computer gear reseller in the UK I can say that delivery dates are never ever anywhere near 100% reliable and especially so for new lines. So don't be entirely shocked if they don't have it in stock on Sept 2nd.
On a side note: This does show (or at least tantalisingly suggests) how Canon intends to battle the in-body IS camp, just like I guessed they would. Just offer an IS kit lens.
The 30D was switched to selling with the 28-135mm IS and/or the 17-85mm IS last spring... Selling either of these with the 40D rather then the 17-55mm f3.5-56 is not a new idea for Canon and yes, it does seem to be in a attempt to convince most foolish consumers that they don't need in camera IS. (foolish being the word I choose I'm ot sure Canon would ever use that terminology in public)
