That must be a fairly old pic of Silver Spring, MD because that Century Theatre has long been the AFI theatre. Were you shooting this from the front of Discovery's headquarters or was it not built yet when you took the photo?

Actually, location is a street in Evanston (just north of Chicago). The entire block is a recent development, hence the look of Anytown, USA. I often use that scene to test lens distortion, and the 17-55 DX gets an A grade. I shoot from an elevated train platform which passes for a commanding vantage here in flatland.

Thanks! It was an interesting experiment, even more interesting trying it as a self portrait. Needless to say, there were several outtakes. I think I have one where you can tell by my facial expression that I accidentally lit the cigarette (my wife would kill me if she smelled smoke in the house).
