Heres an older one, D80 with Tokina 12-24. I should add that there was ZERO post processing, thats a straight from the camera (watermark added), to flickr. Didn't adjust ANYTHING, which is why I love those colors.
4 shots with my 17-55mm on D300, first focussed at muzzle, then refocused a quarter distance to the right, and again and again.
I used the free program CombineZM and it was extremely easy. Sharpened a bit in photoshop and wa-la! - a pretty well focussed gun from muzzle to stock.

Pardon my ignorance, but couldnt you have just shot it at say F16 and achieved the same result?? nevertheless it looks nice.
Yes it would've been similar. The shot itself was 4 shots at F/10 actually, but there was noticeable DOF blur. DOF stacking is most appropriate for macro applications. I was merely testing it out.
Hello, first of all I just wanted to say...... WOW There is a LOT of good work here. Well this is my first post and what the heck, I hope you all like my "Best Nikon shots". I know that these shots dont come close to being as good as the one's that i have seen here. I use a Nikon D40 and have it on Manual most of the time. Please feel free to tell me what you think. Enjoy
I haven't posted in this thread for a while so I'm going to be greedy and post 6 images over the past few months that I've liked. Maybe not my best, but some are good from a personal POV.
Just showing ff the wireless flash cheapo ebay triggers. Complete fluke that the exposure was good really as I wasn't going to take a good picture, just show that they work. http://fwgx.co.uk/pictures/FM/DSC_9041.jpg
These are so wonderful, such diversity in each photo. Its great you have all the info as well. I will be buying new nikon equipment soon, so I particularly find this thread useful.
