Both spetacular John!!!
The old 16/3.5 MF appears to control flare better than the 17-35 zoom.

Thanks Jose - To be fair this is about as worse a case there can be for any lens. Usually the 17-35 does really well pointed into the sun, but it definitely was past it's limits in this case. I actually got the 16/3.5 to ghost with this same type of shot which I'll show later on.

A few shots from yesterday and today. The lighting was a bit hard since it was late and was dark. The D7000 focus doesn't have any issues with this. ISO wise, even at 3200 and 6400 without NR, it is good and printable. The shots below are a few I have short listed. I went back today to shoot the BMX AIR at a different angle and and it went well but their show got cut short since one of the bikers who did a mid air 360 body roll didn't land properly and has hit his head/shoulders on the ground. It is a dangerous sport but these guys are so great at what they do but the tolerance for error is so small. My thoughts go to that injured biker... No photoshopping, no cropping, just loaded to NX2.3.4. Cheers!

Sorry, but isn't this the "Your Best Nikon Shots" thread? Not, "75+ shots from an event" thread? Good photos, but I think we could have done ok with just a few of each.

Hey sorry guys, I should've mentioned that my previous post was just a one off and the main reason I posted that many is to show that the D7000 is such a capable camera for low light and action shots, provided one uses a suitable lens and technique but I feel that ~20 shots won't really serve it justice. I have chosen those shots as they are my fave out of many, so I named it "a few". So yes, I have trimmed a lot of photos from my previous post in favour of those who are still using dial up. Cheers.

ReyGay - I'm a big fan of your stuff. I think the feedback is intended to ask that you pick a very few to represent the point you're trying to make. If you have 10, pick the one you think shows it best of all and tell the story.

I'd hate it if you stopped posting - just pick a few and offer a link to more. I'll go there almost every time. Cheers!

Hey guys, I'm very well aware of that. Like I said, it was just a one off, nothing biggie...something different once in a while. Cheers.

I realize it's not much compared to the east coast, but. I had to fight 60 MPH winds for a block to get this shot. I stopped twice in the lee of buildings to get to the beach. Usually sand never gets more than a foot off the ground when it flies. Not this time. The right side of my face is sandblasted, and the UV filter has a few scratches from sand.

This is the Michigan City (IN) lighthouse. The wind was blowing down the full length of Lake Michigan with nothing to slow it down. I hunkered down behind a small concrete pylon that did nothing to stop the sand or the rain. I saw a couple of guys using 300MM lenses with no tripod. One guy even said I was crazy to be taking a tripod. Well, the Feisol 3372 got the shots, even though I could stand the pain only long enough for a dozen shots.

I'm getting just a bit too old for this. But it's worth it.
