I decided to get a brand new D7000 rather than a used D300s. So I used it immediately after purchasing it at a parallel import shop. I have noticed that the AF is definetly way better than my D1X. AF doesn't loosely hunt using my Nikkor 300mm f/4 AF ED IF. The only reason why I missed so many BMX rider shots is not being familiar with the controls. The rest are pretty much intuitive - typical of Nikon. Even my rignt angle adaptors still fit this body.
Issue:
a. The D7000 seems to overexpose by 1/3 of a stop using the matrix metering. This can be compensated. This is currently what bothers me the most. Resolution wise, I can't complain, The camera controls are to me easy to navigate.
Image quality definitely is great. Coming from a D1X, I'm currently spolied. My macro shots will be on a whole new level with this resolution...
Here are some shots today. No photoshopping, no cropping, just loaded to NX 2.3.1:

Hey ReyGay, looks great. You use some special curves or something?
Dude, it's just that the air in NZ is cleaner.
Congrats ReyGay on the D7000. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts in a month or so about the things you like and the things you don't about it.
Nikt: Hmmm, probably . I just used a brand new hammer this time with the same type of nails .
AviB: I'm pretty sure there are special curve tools out there but I don't use one. I just use the histogram on NX2 and make sure it's all spread out evenly and this is done used the basic levels tools by nudging highs or lows or increasing exposure. Not sure if that is considered as post processing. One way to make sure colours are correctly displayed is to choose the appropriate colour space.
Slug69: At the moment, the only thing I dislike is the 1/3 over-exposure on matrix metering but this is not everytime. I guess it prioritises to expose more on the darker tones...since most novice buyers would prefer to see brighter tones on the preview LCD.
Some shots today/tonite. Tested some macro shots. This camera definitely exposes the weakness of the lenses and I'm constantly amazed by my Micro Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 Auto nonAi (grey barreled) and the Carl Zeiss Luminar 25mm f/3.5. The Luminar seemingly has endless resolution as this lens is used on 8x10 cameras as well - on the D7000, freeking awesome. The Micro Nikkor 55mm if reversed is great up to 4x5 format...
The chilli shots - the diameter of the chilli is only about 5mm. The Luminar exposes hidded ribs and honecomb structures - visible at 100%...
It sounds boring but yes no photoshopping and no cropping, just loaded to NX2.3.1.
