I find this to be the most inspirational thread on the FM site. GREAT images are posted here. I tell anyone that will listen to me to look at this thread if they really want to see good photography. I always visit this thread every time I log on to my computer. Posts to this thread never disappoint.
I have to agree with Chris, this thread always encourages me to want to shoot more! With that encouragement, I decided to go for a walk on a nice sunny afternoon with nothing but my Sigma 501.4 and the only body I own, a D40x. Not that I have much gear, but I usually take everything with me just in case. Here are a few shots from that trip. It was definitely a challenge for me using just a single prime and shooting "city" things for the first time. I'm trying to improve my composition skills so I hope they aren't too touristy!

All shots were processed in CNX2. If I remember correctly, these are all using the Landscape picture control with some minor adjustments. Sharpening in the picture control is turned off and sharpening is handled via a USM adjustment using 40/5/4 with a linked high pass filter set to around 4 pixels in overlay mode at 30% opacity (I hope that makes sense).
I love your zoo shots! I'm envious that we don't have one that close to us, but I'm planning a trip in April to visit a new zoo. Now, if I can just figure out a way to get the 70-300 before then. Hmmm....
I love it! You should put together a calendar for the Zoo and see if you could sell it in their gift shop. Oh, and if you still have it, you should take the D40 out for a spin every once in a while, it's looks like it may be getting lonely with all of those other bodies.
