Here is a favorite subject ... me! Taken by my friend on this board "VickiB" during a trip to the coast of North Carolina two weekends ago. We got some nice shots ... but somehow I liked the ones she took of me best!

Care to tell a FMer how you got it to focus on the horse shoe and not the thrower.
Absolutely amazing
Thanks

Well it certainly wasn't a Canon MkIII was it...
Autofocus set to trip the shutter when in focus? It is a pretty cool shot.
Also the title reminded me of a saying that is used pretty much only in the US when comparing closeness of something thrown or tossed at a target. "It's only close if it was a horse shoe or a hand grenade." (Something like that.) You're basically dissing the person who said it was close.

+1 and I want to know if the shoe landed on the camera or your head!
Thanks all for the comments. the shoe hit the post and not me
I shot this with my D300 and 80-200 f/2.8 at f/4 or f/2.8 I cant remember and I’m at work right now and can’t view the exif data. that gave me the shallow DOF for this shot.
It took several tries I focused on the shoe while it was in the throwers hand and followed it through flight. I got several good in focus shots but this was the flattest of the group
