Thanks! I rarely post photos on here anymore, but that one is pretty special to me for obvious reasons. Here is the color version. My eyes are brown and his momma's are green. Both of us have parents/grandparents with blue eyes, so I guess that's where he got them...lucky guy. Both versions edited in NX2 (although not much had to be done).

Nice shot but I wouldn't use that lens, the spores can potentially transfer to the camera and then to all your other lenses.

Thanks for your advise. Actually I didn't realised that until I went home and noticed something wrong with the images.

I keep everything in a dry cabinet but those fungi probably started developing when i was traveling in a snowy places. I haven't used that lens for a long time.

it's now in nikon service centre.

you make me worry about my other lens... gotta check them more often.

you can stop fungi in the oven at about 70-80°C but i would not risk AF-S or plastic lenses to treat like that. anyway once it is visible on pictures it is better sent for repair anway

Set the lens outside, pointing at the sun, and let sunlight stream through it for several minutes. Sunlight is the enemy of fungi, and will make short work of any of them living in the lens.

If you use an old film body set on bulb, with the back open, you can prop it up toward the sun and just move it every few minutes to keep it pointed at the sun. Do NOT use the viewfinder to point it at the sun. It will blind you.

Raymond,

I can see you used a softbox on camera-right, but is the subtle background illumination from a strobe on your backdrop or is this post-processing? Or is it spill?

PP I guess (background look symmetrical)

nice protrait. i guess she might be happier too see the image if NR software is applied? I think NR software is quite efficient to reduce noise from subjects about skin/makeup .
