I've thought about using some sort of diffuser for when I'm shooting stationary subjects (like spiders). The trouble is figuring out some way to set it up out in the field..

John at the moment I'm just playing with a section of plastic milk bottle about 7" square on a bamboo stick- I can just about move it while holding it in my left hand along with the bean pole. Only problem so far is it's not big enough I think. Whilst it does not seem to directly spook the bugs- they can detect there are brighter areas nearby and tend to move to them
