And I thought I was finished. When we shot these photos of the brick cutter, I thought that Robert would want to post one of his, but when he went for the Roman Orgy--oops I mean the Strawberry shot--I was able to go into the ole carnival chest of goodies and retrieve this one. Although I really liked the other shot, I think this is a bit more action oriented .
I appreciate everyone's kind comments on my other abstract.
Jane ....this is a fantastic edge related shot.....the spinning edge is making all the action here, and the result is vivid. I like the composition as well!
great entry! I don't think you can do better than this....go eat a strawberry

Jane, is that Gorman as in Greg Gorman, photographer?
Hi Ian. Yes it is. I learned about this action when Ed in KC used it (At least I think it was him) on an old barn that was fabulous. We actually had the pleasure of hearing Greg at the Epson Print Academy workshop this past year. Very talented man I think.

Beautiful work, Jane! Very dramatic - especially the selective B & W. I love it! (But then, what else is new with an original Jane Burns?) I looked at Gred Gorman's site but found no mention of "The Gorman Action" What exactly is that?

Fond regads,

It is an action that you can download into photoshop which converts a color photo to b&w. He has a very distinctive style. High contrast and tends to be darker. He is a natural light photographer (as he said in the workshop we attended). I downloaded the action (super duper macro) from www.atncentral.com. The action is in pdf format on Greg Gorman's site. You would have to load it yourself into the action menu. I prefer to run it as an action, then do my tweaks after. You can run the action so that you can tweak it as it runs. I hope that this answers your questions--or I hope I didn't give too much info that you already knew.
Welcome back, Jane - you and Robert were missed. Clearly from your offerings this week, you will keep raising the bar here Or should I say, ? Nah, we are all here to be challenged -- keep 'em comin'

You are such a sweetheart! Thanks so much, Cal. You have alot to talk about raising the bar my friend. It is wonderful how we spur each other on to become better and better and how much I learn from everyone week after week.

Awesome shot Jane!! This is very nice, the sparks flying really add interest. I like the way all the image is b/w except for the sparks. Very creative. One of my favorites this week.
