I'm upgrading to a 400, so I'm looking to get rid of my beloved 300 2.8 Mk1. Lens is used, and won't win beauty prizes (typical of Mk1's... not beaten up, but a little worn in parts). But it works great, comes with cap, leather cover, hood, and case.
It is razor *sharp* and the AF speed is as fast as I've ever used. Great for sports and/or wildlife.
I'll be back to post images of the lens and a couple samples to prove sharpness.
I'm asking $2500, which is less than I paid for it in September... and the condition hasn't changed since then.

here are a few shots WITH the lens (shots OF it still forthcoming). I can produce 100% crops if that's your thing... but hopefully you can tell the colors, contrast, and sharpness cannot be beat. This is a fantastic piece of glass.
some of these are certainly with the canon 1.4x TCII on, but i'd have to look it up to see which for sure. the lens is sharp enough that i can't really notice a difference with or without the TC... either way the resolution is superb.
you can see from the first shot that there is a small crack in the hood. this has NOT grown *at all* while i've owned the lens (and i've been keeping a close eye on it). the hood is fully functional. this is merely cosmetic.
