Mark, that looks nice. A more "traditional" approach would be to have the larger, out-of-focus object in the background. I'll leave that up to you - perhaps you do not lean in the "traditional" direction

I like it as it is - a nice clear image. I think you've done well here with the lighting and composition.

Cal, Endre, Ron, Al, Bill,

Thank you all for your very kind comments! I'm glad
that I got the whole thing to work. Cal: well, I might
not be leaning in the traditional direction, but that's
only because I've no idea In fact, I hadn't thought
of putting the glass in the front. I was careful though
not to make the carafe too dominant. However, the
eye does not completely rest on the glass; I'm not
sure if that's good. Euphemistically I'd call it
"tension" or "dialogue"

Best to all,
Marc.

Nice lighting, I like the way the rims fade. Kinda ghostly

Carpenter, Fading rims? No! Not again! Actually, I can see them on my
monitor. Marc.

Really nice shot Marc. I really like this older style cut/etched glass. While this may be newer, this style was more common in the States in the first half of the 20th century and not often seen in new crystal. Nice job!

Tom,

Thanks for commenting and for the info! These are indeed pretty
recent (about 20 years old).

Best,
Marc.

There's something almost sensual about this image. Very nice entry.
