I just drove by my local camera shop and there are already three tents pitched out front... JK.
What I am most amused by with this release is the number of people who have to tell us why they don't want it. That says a lot about the true interest in this body when people have to publicly spell out all their justification for continuing to use what they have now instead of buying a 1DIII. Canon must be loving it, even all their FF guru customers are talking about this body in one way or another.
Lets see why we would use what we have now instead of buying a 3...hum.. let me reflect on that.. oh maybe because it still WORKS FINE? God a new body comes out and all of a sudden 2's and 2n's stop working. I think not.

Nobody said they weren't working. Besides, if you're using a Mark II or Mark IIN, did your 1D classic stop working when the II came out?

Stopped working? Don't know where you got that from, but it sure seems a lot of people have to assure all those interested in the 1DIII just how happy they are with their (insert other body here). God a new body comes out and all of a sudden all Canon's previous releases have been full of "bugs", the old models have improved their capabilities and anyone who wants/needs a 3 surely is crazy and extravagant since the old models would work just as well for everyone. Of course nearly every one of those people bought a camera to replace a camera at some point, so perhaps they should reflect on that before condemning those currently in the cycle.

Its either that or if you are interested in a new camera then "you just want the lastest and greatest".
The 1DMKIII appears to be a substantial redesign and upgrade compared to the 1D to 1DMKII or 1DMKII to 1DMKIIn. You may argue about people upgrading to them but the 1DMKIII is an entirely different ball of wax.
I'm excited that Canon has produced something like the 1DMKIII and I look forward to what they have in store for the 1DsMKII replacement.

They still work fine allright... and they will be perfect backups.
Second shipment in Australia now delivered today here in Australia. Unfortunately dealer only got 1 unit both times, first one was used for shop demo over a week ago, and second one for local pro and I am next on the line, maybe in 2 weeks time
My local Canon dealer, Epperson Photo in Oklahoma City (USA) just called to advise that they expect the arrival of my camera tomorrow. I was the first on their list for the 1D3, and they have honored that committment. I am a serious amatuer / freelance pro, so I am grateful that they have kept their word. I've been a customer of this firm for 25 years, and I have always found them to be totally honest and above board. This latest transaction is just one more affirmation of their integrity. And no, I am not an employee of Epperson's, I have no relationship with them, other than having been a satisfied customer for 25 years.

And this my friends is why you buy local and not cheap.
I don't work at a camera shop, thank god because you people would drive me crazy ; )
However, I do appreciate the service that my shop back home gives.
Shout out to Seawood Photo in San Anselmo, CA! I am still the first on your list right?
