I got an Email from my dealer today, and he is still saying end of May.
I am #14. I hope he gets that many in on the first allotment...but I'm sure not 'Holding My Breath'!
It may be best not to get one of the first batch, At least that's what I am telling myself, But I'm Anxious anyway!

I preordered just after you. However, I'm a little further down the list. To help you with your anxiety, I would gladly change places with you. This way you can be in the next batch.

Oh Yeah...I see! More that twice as far down. Thanks for the kind offer, but, I think I prefer to take my chances and remain a teenager than to be a twenty something! .
Hummm, 172 pages of comments about a camera that is not yet available and, when available in June or July, will initially go, for the most part, to CPS pros. Funny how a toy becomes an obsession.

A tool never becomes an obsession; toys - very often!
I miss my 1D2 - happy to have a 5D, but I'd prefer it was a backup/travel camera.
I really have to shrug off a reluctance I feel when I know I should go shooting and the excitement is lacking - 1.3 crop and f/8 autofocus - you don't know what you've got until it's gone.....
I am living in France, but prices are so high that I choosed to buy the MK III in
Germany. I was told the camera will be available between May 26th and 27th.
Since the 27th of May is a Sunday, I prefer expect it to be May 28th.

I don't think being CPS gives me any leverage. When I called Canon AND Calumet I was told it didn't.
The time ordered does insure place in line.
CPS does send you thru Canon service in Irvine very quickly, for this it is nice.

I noticed that you could preorder starting last night. I ordered it even though it said "arriving June 20th". Well I got this email this morning:

I paid for next day shipping. Who knows if this will change again, but I'm hopeful. By the way, the order page still says June 20th. My guess (hope) is that they have a limited supply coming in so they are leaving the June 20th date so they don't get complaints about backorders. I've seen amazon do this many times before - I've used them for years and never had any complaints.
Here's another update on amazon.com. I've been checking my order status daily (see above). Well today I got a message that my order has been delayed and I had to confirm that I still wanted it. The new estimated delivery date is JULY 3.
