Photographer said to have his 1D MKIII already. Did it was an unique case?
My photo shop never got any 1D MKIII yet, though they seem to be an
important customer from Canon France. Some countries might have much
delayed shipments am affraid...
I have sent my camera back to the dealer.
I had used it for two days, flawlessly, in combination with my 28-70 2.8.
Then this morning I tried the combination with my 70-200 2.8 IS, and after 2 shots, I got an error message99...I should turn the camera off and on, or reinstall the battery.
So I did...but the problem re-appeared.
Having had this same problem with my other bodies (D60 and 10D), i tried out another combination. I set up the 17-40 f'4, but the message was there again after one shot.
I have tried practically everything. Cleaning contacts, resetting to factory defaults, clearing custom functions, another memory card (Sandisk, 2G), recharging battery...
Then, funny thing, trying again the 28-70 combination which had worked fine for 2 days...same error message after 1 shot.
So, the toy is back to the dealer.
I will contact myself CPS Belgium next Monday to see what can be done.

There are already too many posts to wade through in the "hands on thread". There's no way anyone should be expected to review 30-40 pages of posts to find out if someone has mentioned something, or to try and revive a topic after being snuffed out by someone else.
How about some freedom? Can we move to a sane discussion approach now? The 1D3 is shipping, and people want to discuss it (well, I just want to read about it because I'm not buying the camera) and the single thread is stifling IMO....
I agree we can leave the banding, cat photos, and "Canon lied to us" threads (they'll all appear) in one area that can be flushed before it over flows though.

Ha!! Yep,heading into home base!! I am hoping they get a HUGE shipment in soon! I don't wanna cancel cause I got in on that good for $4350, with free ship and flash card
Someone just paid $5300 (+100 shipping) for a mkIII on ebay. If anyone here wants to pay that for one they can have the one I'm receiving tues from B&H.
