Excellent work, Anders. I tend to judge other's assignment (as well as my own) as if they would make a good image without being in the assignment and this is one of them.
A very unusual view onto a staircase. I like the
dramatic light, but the image is a bit difficult to look
at; maybe that's just due to it's small size. Just as
a suggestion: I would considerably heighten the
midtones.
Thanks Marc! It does look better in a larger size - the quality isn't quite top notch though since I mangled the color channels quite a bit in the b/w conversion. It's worth a new post processing attempt I think and I'll try your suggestion re the midtones.
Great shot. Really like the contrast you have created. The bright windows contrasting with the dark stairs gives a voyeuristic feeling as though someone upto no good is lurking on the stairs.

I've tried some tweaks and a couple of complete new processings but I can't seem to get something I like much better... brightening the midtones makes the stairs stand out more but at the same time some of the dark mood is lost. I think you're right on the midtones but I simply don't have more time today to work on it so the picture will have to stay as is for now. I'll try more later but that will be too late for this assignment. Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it!
