According to Malasyan Canon Executive in Chief declarations, during the present year, Canon is going to release more than 100 new products !!! . We hope that the DSRL line get a 5% at least !!!
They're special because each pixel is full color - even the 40D
I forgot to add that the 1 series is switchable between 2/3 and 3/4 with supported lenses. (Will not shoot 3/4 with unrecognized lenses unless disabled in custom function). Both formats make a 20mp file. The sensor has 22mp.
Some lenses work fine. Some with internal baffling don't work at 3/4. Some are borderline, but will not be recognized as 3/4 capable.
Canon didn't tell the non-Canon test shooters that it has full color pixels. I don't believe the 40D has been shown outside Canon.

What the heck is the talk about 2/3 and 3/4? Please speak a language we can all understand. Or do you enjoy making people ask, "What does THIS mean?"
Width/height ratio of the image sensor. Most dSLR have a 3:2 ratio, while most digicompacts have a 4:3 width to height ratio.

I would venture to guess that if your not familiar with aspect ratios, your not in the market for an $8K+ camera.
Yet I am the one with the poor DPR-like manners? This is one of the most offensively elitist posts I have ever read. anywhere, including DPR.
Who cares what camera I'm in the market for? This isn't a 1Ds2-only forum, it's a Canon forum. I want to undersand what is being discussed in case it applies to questions I have about cameras for which I may or may not be "in the market," and while I do understand aspect ratios when they are stated in ratio format, the odd fractional substitute threw me.
I shouldn't have responded the way I did, I admit it. I got touchy because I didn't understand, and I responded inappropriately. I hope the OP will understand and forgive me.
Hey folks, take a deep breath... count to 10... write that angry response... count to 10 again... enjoy the adrenaline rush... count to 10 one more time... relax... breath slowly... then delete it. :-)

When did being realistic turn into being elitist?
Was my statment incorrect?
Do the majority of buyers for a top level pro body not know what aspect ratios are?
...and if this is the most offensive thing you've seen on the web, then you have one hell of a spam blocker running on your email.

As he stated, he perfectly well understands aspect ratios, as do I. However, what was described was 2/3 and 3/4, which are fractions, not aspect ratios. An aspect ratio is written as 3:2 and 4:3, and if it were written correctly, him (and I) would have known what was being talked about.

You guys are trying to throw more into that statement then there is. It's an easy yes or no question. I'm also, glad you both know what an aspect ratio is.

Gee, I'm sorry, did someone leave the door open and you walked in uninvited?
That kind of attitude is not going to get you very far here, but to answer your question, "THIS" means you don't know enough yet, so why don't you sit down, read/listen, and try to behave yourself.
Now we're talkin'. Foveon or TrueColor as mentioned many pages ago.
Ok. Yes, I am a normal person learning and enjoying family photography. I am going to upgrade this year to the 40D, or the new 5D. I do NOT understand what "Foveon or TrueColor" is! If not a lot of time, could one of you that knows what it is, and its advatages post it? Please.....I suppose at the end of the day, it is all about image quality and speed.
BTW~I love this site, and everything it stands for. For me, when I buy new equiptment I walk in so informed! All because of you all

Current sensors record either red, green or blue at every pixel. The Foveon sensors can capture all three colours at each pixel.
