You took it back? They must like you - i never heard of a piece of software that can be returned.
I have a Mac Pro desktop I bought last December that I run PS2 on. Been dragging my feet on the upgrade but am convinced PS3 must be worth it - especially on an intel based Mac. The MacBook is my second intel Mac so its definitely in the future. Been using Macs since '86 - a blazing 512ke - i think it was all of 8mhz.
Please tell me what about Lightroom - that you like and what it does better than PS3. I tried the beta version but didn't spend enough time with it to see enough difference. It seemed to add steps to the workflow I already got used to doing in PS2.
I have purchased two 17" laptops and five G5's over the past four years from the local Apple store, they take pretty good care of me. There were no questions asked when I brought it back. I told them I just didn't like the interface.
Lightroom takes some time but the batch tweaking and exporting in different formats and sizes is really a time saver. It even has a great function that will map where dust is on the sensor. You can fix the first shot of a zillion and then tell it to do the same for all the rest. You have to be careful how you fix the spots because say for instance, you cloned sky, and some of the other shots are tighter in on faces , you can end up with smudges. A little care in cloning or healing the first one can eliminate that risk though. This function alone has saved me hundreds of hours in the four months I've had the program.
I just discovered an interesting fact, my browser in CS2 will not recognize the new Raw files from my 1D MKIII. Lightroom and the CS3 browser recognizes them instantly. I'm weary of being on the cutting edge, I feel like a digital ginny (sp?) pig.
Last week on my Alaskan cruise a USCG Jayhawk paid our ship a visit and treated us to a very fast, very close flyby. I happened to be on deck with my long lens on and snapped a few shots of it going buy. I didn't have a great vantage point and I didn't have a lot of time to setup but here is what I got, cool to me at least.

I don't know what regs the USCG has about flyby's but these guys were close, low, and very fast when they went by. It was quite a thrill.
I'm with J-A, there's no need to crawl back into your hole Sagar!
Those F18 shots are great. A vapor cone is like a sure-fire thing. There is simply something captivating about the condensation effect. It could perhaps use some re-cropping to get the bird in an off-center position. The shot 'tips over' to the left as it is, with most of the right side being empty.
And the second shot is simply killer! Two things stand out for me, them being the colors and the detail/sharpness that you captured in the exhaust stream.
We do have some talent here, don't we! See what you guys think of this. I created it Saturday evening after a couple of hours of flying. When I came back the sky was incredible and our Six was bathed in beautiful light. I took him out on the taxiway and composed this image. My plan is to print a limited edition set of 40" Giclee prints on watercolor stock. I think they'll be sold before the paper is dry.
Dang, I really feel bad for posting these. You guys are good.

Oh Jim, I'm going to start taking my students to TKI instead of GVT just so I can see that Six sitting out and about. I'm so disappointed GVTs glideslope is out.
Come on by, we'd love to see ya!! Just have the tower guys direct you to my corner of the world. Did you see the new dirt being turnd at the south end? That's where my new digs are going to be, probably early January. If you know of anyone who wants to lease a beautiful 56x52 fully insulated, tight as a drum, my existing hangar will be available. I've got a couple of folks with turboprops and jets that may want to lease my new one though. If they get serious,I'll just stay where I am.
Don't you ever be gunshy about posting your images here, you've been around since the beginning and you do good work!
This is exactly the situation that the camera will get confused on. You can't shoot the MKIII in this type of composition on the large focusing pattern, it will pick all kinds of targets. Switching to a center setting eliminated the problem.
