Dear DSchamp,
Just when I think this thread is dead someone we haven't heard from posts a comment that brings me to my knees. To say "thanks!" for your kind thoughts is a bit lacking, but thanks! You all have added a dimension to my photography that I haven't experienced until now. I'm kind of a one man band, no assistant, poor delegator worker bee type. My typical year consists of 300 + assignments and I'm the marketing guy, the photographer, the quality control person, the client rep, delivery and accounting department. You can probably surmise that there's not a great deal of time left over for comeraderie or resting on my laurels. The past few months with all of you has been a great deal of fun and I feel as though we've become friends.
I'm glad the tone of our thread has maintained it's warmth. There are some huge ego's out there and when you're dealing with something as personal as a person's creative vision and ability, there's a substantial degree of vulnerability there. We've all been blessed with talent in different areas and we're all at varying levels of development with those gifts. The very least we can do for each other is encourage. Shoot, I met a gentleman early in this thread who has photographic talent, but he's up to his emotional ears being a husband and a Dad to two young boys, one of whom is challenged by Autism. He confided that he probably would never have the resources financially or time-wise to visit and photograph many of the places we go to without a thought. If that doesn't put your ego some place way on a back shelf, nothing will. There's little I wouldn't do for, or share with that man, and we've never laid eyes on each other. Your relationship with your Dad and his physical challenges touches my heart. My Dad died at 57, we never got to fly together. I have to believe that my love for winged things began during those afternoon trips out to Glenview NAS where he got his wings many years before. My Pop was a hard charger and those are about the only relaxing memories I have of our life together, you guys keep making them!
I'm more than happy to share any technique, any shortcut with you guys. There's nothing I'd like better than knowing y'all are bringing home "goose-bump" shots more often because of something I was able to help you with.
I wish your Dad a speedy recovery. Next time I'm in your neck of the woods it would be my pleasure to buy lunch.
Happy New Year!

Jim,
I don't know that there has been a "thread" posted on FredMiranda that has captured my interest as much as yours.
Your unselfish , as well as the other "posters", offering of information amd images is not to be outdone by your unseemingless patriotism.
As I have mentioned in "repiles" previously, as a 2 time combat veteran of Vietnam, "air jocks" saved hundreds and thousands of lives with their undaunting and unwavering disregard for personal safety in the support of their fellow pilots and their undying( and dying) support of ground combat infantry. Since my time was 1967-1969, I am not diminishing in any way, shape, or form the dedication of ALL aviators in conflicts past, present and future. In today's continual world conflicts, ALL pilots, commercial, private or military should be thanked for keeping the skies as safe as humanly possible.
The images presented in your thread send "goose-bumps", as others have mentioned, and keep my imagination in a high state of excitement. Your dedication is exemplary and I personally thank you for it!
I hope you have a wonderful, joyous and prosperous New Year! To you and those who fly these marvels of the air, you have my deepest admiration and thanks!
Dan
