Dell has the 5D onsale right now. $3299.95 - $659.95 - $300 Canon discount comes to a grand total of $2340.00. Just thought you all would want to know.

I think it depends on what state you are from.

Yes for Oklahoma.

So maybe B&H would be better for me.

Thanks Brian, I just ordered one as a backup to my 1ds2, (something I've wanted to do for a while), and I get an additional 4% off by using my Dell card to pay. I will also buy an 85/1.8 shortly which will add another $300 + $40 to the overall discount....whew!

With a 50 f/1.4 and it's $20 rebate, that'd bring the final price of the 5d body down to $1,999.96.... holy crap.

How long does this dell 20% off thing last? I clicked for details and it didn't give me any dates.

the 8.625% tax kills this for me
I'm ordering one from Buydig.com (aka beachcamera.com) for $2749 w/o tax

Yeah, someone found a way to get one for like $1849 using some fatwallet discount and some other credit card discount on top of the double rebates. Doesn't factor in tax though.

Read it over on dpreview but for the life of me can't find it now.

I rather wait a couple of more months and buy one at or under 2K or buy a semi-used one. In Texas I pay 8.25% Tax too so it ruins the deals that Dell puts out.

"I'm ordering one from Buydig.com (aka beachcamera.com) for $2749 w/o tax"

You need to work on your math a bit as with 8.625% tax, a 2k lense is waaaaay less than your $2,749.00 with no tax.

Last year Dell was not taxing purchases Maine, now they are. With tax the Dell pice is only $43 better the B&H photo and on the 30D B&H's price is better. Perhaps Dell is now applying tax to all states!

You can't really count the 50 1.4's rebate as a discount to the 5D. It's another item, so you can only count the 5D's rebate to the 5D's original cost and the 50 1.4's rebate to its original cost.

Not for me, I live in tax-free NH. Live free or die.

I'm confused about your post as well.

$3299.95 - $659.95 - $600 (double rebate) = $2040 BEFORE TAX

AFTER his tax rate, it's $2215.95

From Buydig.com, it's $2749 - $600 (double rebate) = $2149 shipped

He is saving $67 buying from Buydig, which I am going to do as well since Dell charges tax in CA.

A question for you all,

I'm on the verge of buying a new computer through them, and I was wondering if you folks have ordered camera equipment from them before. I've heard lots of stories where people were promised a camera and it either comes very late or not at all or even twice

I was hoping that with a bigger purchase I could get an even better deal than the offer posted online. Tax is no issue for me (I'm in OR), but I could get it elsewhere within 7 days (B&H later I guess). The real clincher is whether or not it would show up with the computer.

Just curious - a great price is only part of the deal.

Kevin
