Is the US dollar THAT weak now that most of these prices are more than local USA dealers charge for new equipment?

Bummer :-(

Prices are higher because:

1) stronger yen, I remember USD VS Yen was 120 when I start playing here, now is 111

2) very tight supply nowadays. I think Canon Japan has some issue with production or resources allocation

3) US Dealers usually have bigger inventory buffer that it may take them 2-3 months to feel the heat.

I would rate the relative weight in order of 2 > 1 > 3.

Sigma and Nikon prices are relatively more stable because of slower inventory movement.

Conclusion: go shopping US and enjoy it.

I just wanted to let you know that the 100mm macro lens arrived today in good shape. One suggestion though, when you taped the bubble wrap to the box it damaged the box. Not a big deal, but I would have preferred the box to have been in good condition also.

Thanks,

Greg

Thanks for your suggestion. We just changed the tape brand. It think the tape chemical is too strong. Anyway, enjoy the lens.

BTW, RS-80N3 is back in stock. $55 shipped.

Have you used one of these Magicstor drives yet? I recently purchased one and it turned out to be a dud. I have read from several other people that they have also had problems with these drives. What has your experience been?

Thanks,

Greg

I sold my 1G last week and is using one of them. Nothing bad, but just a few days. I havn't checked the warranty details, but seems they will replace any bad unit in warranty period (it is mpossible for repair, right!). The 1G MD I sold was with me since D60 last April. Not a single bug. Hope this is as good.

BTW, we should be more careful in handling MD than CF memory. don't take it out and make any shakes at it.

Anyway, it is cheap.

I have had very good luck with the IBM/Hitachi microdrives, it is the Magic store drive that I have had problem with. When I use it in my D Rebel and turn the power off the drive never shuts down. After a while of having the camera turned off the hand grip gets warm from the drive trying to spin up over and over again. I have read many similar reports. I also get ERR 02 over and over again when I use the drive on my Rebel or my 10D and miss potentially good shots. The price is very attractive but Magicstore’s track record doesn’t seem very good so far.

Prices do not include shipping and insurance costs. Also, there may be slight adjustment to prices in accordance with FX fluctuation. Thanks

Kudos to Hugo. I purchased the Sigma 180 from Hugo on Tuesday and it arrived on Friday. Unfortunately I was away visiting my mother over the weekend, so I haven't gotten to try it out yet and my husband is asking me what I ordered from Hong Kong. It is alway nicer when he doesn't pay attention to the packages that arrive for me.
