But all the same, wouldn't you just assume have the 10 MP's? Saying 8 is really almost as good as 10 is like saying the D2X's ISO 800 performance is almost as good as Canon's. Nikon guys can claim that all day long but Canon folk know the truth.
Someone else mentioned consolidating the 1.6 crop camera's into one unit and the next level up being the 5D. That would only work if the 5D could be had for under $2,000 street. Maybe that will happen.
Given that a high crop factor has some legitimage issues as does full frame, why not more 1.3 crop factor cameras? Canon could easily make one with a 12 MP sensor with great high ISO performance and avoid the light fall off issues full frame cameras see.
wouldnt that lens be nice? highly unlikely. figuring the 70-200 2.8 is around $1200. they wouldnt have the 18-400 2.8 be near the same price. and this would have to be a monster....

The lens sounds sweet but if it were true, the price would be way more than that. Also how big would that sucker be?
The different naming scheme existed even before Canon's digital days. Also here in Japan, the XT is called the "KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid?) Digital", I don't think that would fly very well in North America

I heard they were developing stackable prime lenses (EF-STK). Instead of changing the lens, you just add one on top of another. Put two 50mms together and you get a nice 100mm and so on. Image quality of a prime and the versitility of a zoom. This is the solution to the senser dust issues.

Talked to a father of one of my students. His company just won out a contract with Canon to produce their chips and electronics, and said new things were on their way.
Also stated that Canon could even be thinking of trying something besides CMOS.

no kidding. they need to get the prices down. These measly changes and 'updates' are a joke, but I wouldn't expect it to stop any time soon, as I bet they are bringing in alot of money.
Seems very logical to intro a consumer 10mp camera. The average consumer doesn't care about sensor noise and build quality. So why not give them what they think they want.
A pro, on the other hand, doesn't care about a 10mp plastic camera. They want a tough, fast, low noise camera like the 30d. So a new rebel wouldn't appeal to them.

... but if the 350d replacement (even if it will have a plastic body) will have 8fps, dial navigation control instead of the arrows, 10mp and low noise at iso50 and iso3200, 21 focus points, spot metering, and a 2.5" lcd display... with a street price of not more than $800... it will definitely replace my 20d... and i'm very sure it will get the attention of many pros hehehe... I'M JUST DREAMING THOUGH
