p.1 #1 · Maligne Canyon, Jasper

Been wrestling with my bandwidth protection, so this may or may not work.
Shot two weeks ago after a nasty downpour.

Very, VERY nice! Excellent compostion, excellent processing, and a strong sense of Mother Nature swallowing up bits of herself with that one tree having fallen across the canyon.

Excellent work!

Bryan, love the colours in the canyon walls. Good capture. Don't know if the sky does anything for me. Would love to see a tighter crop removing the sky and trees.

The colors in the canyon are great. Is there a halo around the trees on the left?

That beautiful scene is nicely captured. Greatly exposed, I presume the GND helped a lot

Excellent shot, I like the sky in the shot, it adds to the expanse of the scene.

All these pictures in and around Jasper makes me want to go back in the summer, so many places so little money

Having never used a GND... how do you know where to postion it, presuming it is larger than the lens and you can move it up and down to block out more light.

Great shot Bryan. I really like the blue mountains and the sky. I think they add depth to the shot and personally, I would leave them in.

A very nice capture with just a hint of natural chaos in the form of the fallen tree. That adds interest to the shot and prevents it from simply being a scenic view. Lovely vivid colours and beautifully seen and composed. Well done!

I always just slide it up and down in the holder until it looks right to me, then evaluate the results after and reshoot if necessary. The purist might scoff at this technique and prefer to meter the sky, meter the foreground, then calculate the difference and use the appropriate filter, etc etc. Too much math for me.

Leon - I've lurked for a while, posted a few comments, but up until now, I haven't had my portfolio quality stuff in order for display. Starting to remedy that. And yes, I'll be posting a whole lot more.

Hi, Bryan.

This is a really good shot, with excellent composition, which captures this dramatic scene very well. I like the detail of colour in the canyon walls and being able to see right into the depths. The picture has an excellent background with beautifully lighted mountains and sky. Well done. I don't think that this is an easy shot to take at all and here you have succeeded brilliantly.

Awesome shot! You've got a winner here. Was this taken from the bridge?
