Thatīs pretty entertaining, but unless itīs a poor translation, it appears to be written by someone with english as a second language, hardly what you would expect for an official document.
Built from the ground up to represent the new face of digital imaging the EOS 3D will represent a breakthrough in high performance yet affordable photography. Featuring an elegant yet supremely functional design it takes the best of Canon's previous designs and enhances the experience even further. A high performance AF system featuring 27pt of which 11 are x-type down to f/4 while and the centre point is cross-type to f/5.6 and allows AF down to f/11. The AI servo performance has been significantly improved too, exceeding that of the 1D Mk II.
Also Canon proudly brings ECF to the digital era and is greatly enhanced in performance over that found in the Elan 7NE.
However, the true revolution lies in the heart of the camera. Packing an amazing 13.3MP into an APS-H sized sensor the images are processed by a new DIGIC III engine. The next generation DIGIC III Image Processor builds on the legendary abilities of the digic II with double the processing power necessary to deliver unprecedented levels of resolution, speed and dynamic range. Despite the EOS 3D having smaller pixels than the EOS 5D, the DIGIC III provides even greater DR, more accurate colour rendition improved WB and lower noise. ISO 50 and 3200 are now part of the standard ISO settings and ISO 25 and 6400 are now included as an expanded option. Also it further reduces power consumption allowing class leading battery performance.
Thanks to DIGIC III the EOS 3D also boasts an impressive burst rate of 6fps for 18 shots in RAW and 40 in jpg.
In addition the body adds several sealing gaskets to the all magnesium shell allowing for operation in more extreme environments. A new evaluative algorithm allows more accurate metering in extreme lighting and can even correctly expose subjects like snow. Also a 2.4% spot meter allows for precise metering of any part of the scene. The viewfinder shows an impressive 98% of the scene both horizontally and vertically. Also for the first time Canon will be employing 2.75" OLED display screen, offering superior resolution, brightness and power consumption to LCD screens and having markedly better performance in bright daylight. ...Show more →
If that should happen Ill take 2 or 3 of those
Mayby a digital back system for normal dslr that would be a change in the way we think...

What are you talking about? The English is perfect there - though I don't know whether Canon would put Abbreviations like WB and DR in an official document.
If Whayne is right and assuming reasonable pricing, this camera would totally shake up thee digital world, including Canon's own line-up. I am not sure if it will happen but realistically, it is within the realm of possibility. To take the next jump, DIGIC III would be required simply for processing speed. Once the processing speed is there the rest is relatively trival to do and is more market driven than anything else. Given that DIGIC II is ancient technology (though not bad technology) I have been expecting Canon to make a big leap for some time and I think that this would probably be a good time to do so in that it makes it seem that Sony's (not to be underestimated) new camera is a tinker toy.

Come on people you are all missing the forest for the trees. There is only one thing they are talking about.
Here is part of a leaked document that's come into my possession:
Introducing the revolutionary EOS 3D.

If this is a "leaked" document coming from Canon, they really need to fire the copy writer

$2500 sounds a bit high as the price point for this product - $1800 - 2000 would seem to fit better given the current lineup...
Really? i thought the price is rather too low at 2500 as it would interfere with the sales of the 5D and from what i gather the 3D sounds like a better camera

Me too. I thought $2500 at least, and only then if the 5D goes down to $2k. And who knows what would happen to the 1DmkIIN.
Of course, if it was a 1.6 crop, I guess it could be there, but would be some pretty intense pixel density.
Wouldn't it be nice. I think it could be getting there though. Canon needs it's top 1.6 crop to be competitive not just with what we've got now, but what might come from Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, and more importantly Sony in the next-18 months to 2 years.
Sign me up for one of these babies though.

Sorry, I could be wrong but I don't think 1.6 has anything to do with this.
Canon has been talking about releasing new pro models to replace the 1d/1ds series and I think that the 1.6 stuff is done for a while. These (1.6x) are, and will continue to be, slated as entry level to high-end amateur cameras.
Canon released their new 1.6 (the 30d) and probably won't do anything until they update the XT. That could happen in September, but I kinda doubt it because where can they go unless they want to trample on the 30d?
Hey, what I posted was my late night summary of the specs. Of course the Canon document is much more polished but is very drawn out. I just cut though the hype.
Such a camera would be incredible. Best of all it will be cheaper than 5D although expect 5D price cut. MSRP $2599. Now don't worry that it seems like this would be a better camera than 1 series, as this is the launch pad for a new Canon era and much will find it's way into the all new 1 series whenever it's released.
The EOS 3D will lay waste to anything Nikon has currently or near term. A camera that can satisfy landscapers or birders.
