The most important word here is "may". It may happen and it may not. There is always a gap in the market but not always there is a market in the gap.

Nope. Come to think of it, even this post does not offer much info... :-)
If that 3000D is a hoax, the picture is pretty well done. Even if it is composed of several pictures of different camera bodies, the end result is a great looking design!

Perhaps Canon Inc allows selected regional subsidiaries to be "designated leakers."
Most likely not. I've spoken to a few companies about deliberate leaking and all say that they won't or can't with regards to insider trade laws. Although unlikely in this case people could potentially end up in prison or markets freeze the stock. In fact, the whole 5D-leakage last year was considered "most embarrassing".
Some companies have taken this to a completely different level. One of Apples local executives told me that they usually are briefed about the new Macs only an hour or so before Steve Jobs announce at a keynote. However, Apple is a much more centralised organisation than Canon and rely on basically two kinds of products (Mac, iPod) whose announcements has a potentially larger impact on the stock. But still, Canon is not that different although I doubt any leakage about a new copyprinter will raise anyones eyebrows.
Go back a decade and it was much more common in general for us reporters and editors to receive information under NDA with regards to printing cycles and such. Internet has changed all that.

The PDF is pretty funny. Either the reference of 350D on the second page is an incredibly bad typo or the thing is as fake as most of the stuff out there.
Since the lower numbers are the higher priced cameras I predict a new Decimal series. Next release is the .2D body (leaving room for upgrade to a .1D and the prosumer .3D).

Yet another example of hooey that hoping that by being authoritatively-stated, it will somehow be mistaken for actual insight. A tin-plated turd, nothing more.
You were referring to my hunch of the 500mm lens or the non-1D camera to be unveiled on Aug 24?
