I just got my B800 today, and here is my first attempt at studio lighting. As you can see my model was falling asleep. Please C&C.

My first post, but after looking at all the great pictures in this topic, I thought I give it a try with my little Baby Boy. Actually it didn't work out the way it was supposed to, since he turned his head direction reflector instead flash all the time, but I think the Picture is still quite nice:

I'll be commencing a twenty-city tour this September. The seminar is sponsored by Canon and Westcott and is a "Start-to-Finish" concept. There will be plenty of emphasis on simple lighting solutions. More info the tour website at www.thedigitalphotographyedge.com

This was captured with a single 100 watt Frezzi Mini-Fill sun-gun with a homemade snoot.

Thanks, Gentlemen!

We have gotten a lot of good response from our neighbors in Europe. We'll try to come over for a tour if we can line up sponsors and such...

Here's something completely different; High noon sunlight in Tanzania with just a single Canon 580EX on a Strobe Slipper fired by a Pocket Wizard. The undiffused Speedlite was hand-held by a traveling companion. I used the highest possible sync speed and set the Speedlite to Manual Mode and full-power. Once we established f-stop and working distance, my friend moved the light as needed as the dance progressed...

Hope to see some of the US crew on our tour; we start in Detroit on the 11th of September. More dates on the website...

Another African portrait in bright daylight. The sun is above and behind my subject and the single Speedlite is hand-held to frame left...

And one last beauty shot before I get back to work...

A Quantum Qflash in an Asymmetrical Stripbank held horizontally. The Asymmetrical Stripbank has the strobe head offset to one side to create the effect of a a Key and Fill, all in one box. One again, a careful balance to the fading light, this time in beautiful Sedona, Arizona...

Tad

See you soon. Tell your friends!

William,

Will do. We need to get a good turn-out here in the States and then we'll see how much our sponsors want to help. I shoot for Canon here in the US - I'll be demonstrating the new 1Ds MkII at PhotoPlus in NYC in October...

I did pre-release testing with the 1D MkIII and the new 580EXII earlier this year and produced this image. Three Speedlites; one as a "Silent Master" - emitting no illumination - and two Slaves. One in a Stripbanlk as Key and another bouncing off of the wall as Fill...
