Sry for the slow ansver I have been away on work for the last week.
Thx a lot for the input on the photo. A little info on the light setup below
The shot is with one big softbox to the right of the camera. Its a octo box with 8 sides instead of 4. The background is white but looks grey because not much of the light reaches it.
Light: AcuteB 600R, 2½' from subject. Modifier: Profoto white softlight reflector w/opal glass (like a Mola Demi, I guess). Other reflectors: none. Exposure: 9Ws, f/5.6, ISO 100.
1 AB800 with 30 degree grid. This was a last minute shot. Angel and I had done some head shots and I asked her to do this quick one. I've been playing with the one light direct look and have been happy with what I have come up with. I like this shot and her expression but the angle created that shadow of her head that I don't really like.
Lighting is from a single 190cm Octobox, 30cm above the floor with a small tilt down, with the box above and to my right. Background was lit from an overhead strip.

Wow, I just spent the last 3+ hours reading through this thread, and I'm still confused
I did come to the conclusion that I'm getting the AB800, but not sure what else I actually need. Probably two of the Impact Air-Cushioned Heavy Duty Light Stand (One for the light and one for an umbrella/softbox)
Any good books I could pick up, or better yet, any of you guys in the Pittsburgh PA area? Any suggestions on my choices of lighting equipment would be greatly appreciated. I'm very new to this lighting thing, but really am excited to get some equipment and learn
Here's my gear so far:
Canon Rebel XT - Canon EF 17-40 L - Canon 50 1.8 - Sigma 70-300 APO DG - Canon 24-70 L - Canon 430 EX - Slik 700DX
